For this wondering, I called the admin office and we can take a seat on the waiting list AND appeal if we like.

Did anyone else receive an email today regarding Regents? I was accepted via TAG for English but never saw the Regents thing on my portal, so I assumed I didn’t get it…yet after I received an email at around 3pm today saying I got it, I checked my portal and what do ya know it’s there now in the corner. Definitely a pleasant surprise but it would have been nice to know back when I was accepted like everyone else lol. UCI really IS wack (not to mention the mid-may to early-may back to mid-may financial aid notification)!
I was wondering about that too until now. I was just admitted to UCLA today. So now I have both UCLA and UCI. Hope this helps.
@VeeJoePerra
Does anyone know if other UCs you apply to get notified about which ones you got accepted into? Someone on here or on the UCLA thread earlier said that if you get waitlisted to UCI, it’s because you got accepted into UCLA. That sounds like bs to me lol
@JustTakeMe they don’t work that way. Each campus works independent from each other.
@jordanh16 Did people receive regents earlier? My friend and I both got it today. UCI financial aid package still yet to come, I heard May 10ish give or take
Accepted last week on April 18th

I really wanted to go to UCLA since I live in LA and they are known for my major. Now I’m debating Berkeley vs Irvine. Berkeley’s major is called “Theatre and Performance Studies” which they aren’t known for my major vs Irvine’s major is called “Drama” and they ARE known for their theatre department. And I won’t have to get a dorm since I’d commute to school. I have a lot to think about. Hopefully, Irvine lets us know our Financial Aid Reward soon.
@jose1996 i know nothing regarding your major, but if Irvine is known for your major I’d definitely do Irvine.
@jose1996 I’m in the same boat… UCB vs UCI. Prestige vs Proximity Challenge vs. Convenience… it’s not an easy choice.
I know very little about UCI’s Philosophy program, but I’m not a huge fan of the campus. It’s just hard, I have a 1BR in OC for 1200 right now. If I leave, I’ll never grab that again. UCB is about $700 more for an apartment off campus.
I think I’m going to tour both before I make a decision-- that is, AFTER financial aid is out. I think at the end of the day it will come down to that for me.
anyone know if there’s gonna be any admission updates today?
declining my spot, i hope that opens it up for a waitlisted student!!
same boat as you guys, choosing btw UCLA vs UCI for biochemistry. This choice is really hard… does not know that much info about my major at each school…
I wanna go to UCLA deep down, but UCI sounds convincing for my major and med school. I haven’t visited both of those schools but I visited UCB.
I’m gonna visit both of those campuses and see which one I like better. So far I had started asking my professors, transfer counselors, med and grad student for advice.
Waitlisted.
Major: Statistics/ Data Science
GPA: 4.0
All pre-reqs and IGETC done
@misseskite @AeroDE @Jose1996 Similar boat as well but for English. Choosing between UCI and UCB at this point, but waiting until after I visit both and for FA at Irvine. Since I got Regents at Irvine it’s impossible to not seriously consider, despite the fact that Berkeley is known for their English dept. Everyone (especially my parents) seems to think Berkeley is the obvious choice but depending on Irvine’s financial aid offer it’s most definitely not an easy or obvious choice, especially since Irvine’s English program is still pretty highly-ranked.
Glad I’m not the only one who’s conflicted - I feel like when it comes to Cal or UCLA everyone expects you to jump on those schools, even though there’s so much to consider besides the rankings.
@iWiggs Many TAG applicants who got accepted during the first week of April found out they got Regents as well (on the same day). They said that they saw it on their portals. I was just confused because I also got accepted at that time but didn’t get Regents until yesterday.
Not even on waitlist yet, is it safe to say rejected?
