UCI: International Studies vs. Political Science

zot zot zot, fellow anteaters!

By the thread's title, I'm sure you know what's my problem.

My SPOP is coming up soon, and I've planned to major in International Studies. After doing some research, I've notived that the Political Science major of UCI is getting a lot of praise and attention: it is ranked and recognized nation-wide, and offers a great curriculum. On the other hand, the International Studies major, my major, is almost invisible. Yet, I would say that the two majors are not that different.

Now I don't want to judge a major and its faculty by its reputation on magazines and its rankings online. But like everyone else here, I want the best education UCI has to offer.

I want to be a civil servant - but working on the international scene is a big dream of mine. Thus, I'm facing this huge dilemna: staying in International Studies or move to Political Science. I COULD double major, but that is last resort.

Any advice?

Thank you anteaters.

Have a zot day

I think you should go with International studies, due to your interest in the world. Both majors are pretty similar and you will be taking poly sci classes as an IS student. You really cannot go wrong with either because regardless off which one you choose, you will prolly want to go to grad school in something specific that you are interested in. Either one you choose, you will always have option of changing it once you are here so don't stress out too much. Hope this was somewhat helpful. I'm an engineering student and I'm adding International Studies as a second major. So far I find the classes very interesting.
