UCI leadership program

Hi my daughter received an invitation to apply to UCI’s Leadership Program, it sounds very interesting and appealing to her, not only for the reduced tuition but because she is studying Business, so this could potentially enhanced her resume. I’ve been searching like crazy trying to get more info, since is not clear (at least for us) if these extra classes basically all the 4-5 years or just the first year, the reduced tuition is it only the first year or through out? it mentions no housing for this program; etc. It seems this is a new program and I was wondering if anyone has information they could share? Pros and there has to be some Cons. Thanks

The school actually called yesterday and mentioned that if you are registered for the program, youre going to have to live in the apartments near the campus

ok, but still the information is not fully clear to me or my daughter, she has her SPOP slot on july14-15, Maybe we’ll end up going to the school before the due date for leadership program to ask questions personally. it’s sad that the information session wont be available until later august. Thanks for the reply

My child also received an invitation to register for the Leadership Academy. I did find some information regarding the program on the UCI website.

It sounds like the reduced tuition is just for the first year. I am somewhat skeptical of the program as you are not really considered a student at UCI until fall 2018. I suspect they enrolled too many students for the fall semester and this is one way of addressing the problem since housing will not be available and courses will be taken through the continuing education division.

I also wanted to mention that my child received an e-mail from UCI housing that they received a large number of applications for on campus housing for freshmen. Therefore, this year they will allow freshmen to live in apartments and theme houses that are normally reserved for upperclassmen.

Yes, my daughter received the same email. and we are considering the alternative housing option as well.
I just found this online, there will be two info sessions before the deadline to register on june 30th ,
