UCI or NYU????

Hello all,
I am a senior and have gotten all of my acceptance letters back. I have narrowed down the selection to UC Irvine and NYU. I got into both for computer engineering. NYU gave me no financial aid, beyond government loans, so it is an estimated $64k a year (or somewhere near that).

Here’s what I like about each one, but I would like your guys’ opinions as well:

UC IRVINE: I love Aldrich Park and how it is right in the middle of campus. I love UTC and the wide variety of cheap fast food. I love the ARC, because I don’t want to gain the freshman 15. I liked middle earth a lot, and would probably stay there based on its proximity to engineering and the ARC. I love how close it is to the beach. I love all the activities that can be done (rock climbing, ropes course, kayaking, etc.) The people seem super friendly. I like that its in California, so I could find my way to the Silicone Valley for tech opportunities much easier.

NYU: I love the environment of New York. I love the food, whether its restaurants or just cheap vendors on the side of the street. I love Washington Square and how there’s always some form of entertainment there. I love the history and opportunities. I love how close it is to places like 5th avenue and Broadway. I love snow (however, it might get old). I liked how the students always looked so nice and dressed up. I love NYU’s global standpoint, and would possibly like to study abroad.

What are your guys’ opinions on these two schools? Keep in mind that the lack of financial aid could possibly hurt me. Where should I go??

Oh and one final note, I was waitlisted to UCSB. So after you guys give your opinions on UCI vs. NYU, add your opinion on UCSB compared to that college, just in case I get off the waitlist. Thank you everyone!

I did let my kid apply to NYU because of cost so it sounds you like UCI enough that I would suggest UCI. UCSB is good for Chemical Engineering and Electrical Engineering but the engineering school is small so that has its pluses and minuses.
