UCI or USD?

so i was recently accepted both schools, pros so far about each
USD:
1. close to home, which means it's cheaper after the first year because i can live at home and won't have to pay room and board.
2. i get a car
3. a good international relations program

Irvine:
1. a lot of my friends are there
2. ranked higher, but major wise they don't have an ir program
3. bigger campus and away from my parents

i am really confused and torn and would appreciate any input at all.

I will only post a response if I get some hot pics

What would your major be at UCI if they don’t have an IR program?

There is an international studies program at UCI. I’m not sure what the main differences would be.

I’m actually going to major in International Studied at UC Irvine! I asked a UCI student who was majoring in IS, and she said it’s really interesting. I hear they have the second best IS program after Stanford.

I meant to say second best in California^

UCI umm… the ranking isn’t really any diferent than UCD overall. The UC System ranks UCD, UCI and UCSB as tied. Other rankings place them all over the place. Overall the quality fo education you’ll get at each will be comparable.

the free rent train is NICE, it’s why I’m going to UCI and not UCSB or UCSD.

the friends thing shouldn’t be an issue though, you’ll make friends no matter where you go.

EDIT: USD??? what’s USD, I thought you meant UC Davis.

USD might mean University of San Diego if it wasn’t a typo!

USD=University of San Diego, you know, the private one…

humm, if it was UCD and you lived by there, I’d have said no brainer, live at home…

I don’t know, sorry bro.

some advice though, trusting anonymous strangers on the internet for your major life decisions can lead to interesting outcomes.
