-UCI is part of the UC system and it's MPH program is currently under accreditation review, it should become accredited in Fall 2012

-SDSU is part of the Cal-State system but has an accredited MPH school

When UCI becomes accredited, which would be the better pick? Assuming same area of concentration.

Accreditation isn’t going to influence employer preferences and it is safe to expect accreditation for UCI. If that weren’t part of your concern, which do you think would be better for you and why? What differences in the program and overall experience matter to you and which school does a better job with those?

UCI overall has a good reputation with a larger national reach, whereas the SDSU value is more locally recognized. Again, those reputations have nothing to do with the MPH specifically, but it is potentially a consideration if you may find yourself mobile beyond the SD / OC region.

If you want work in San Diego specifically, the history of the SDSU program may signal a stronger initial placement outcome. This advantage is likely a short term advantage.

These aren’t answers, but input. What matters to you and how will you decide?
