UCI vs. UCD for Political Science

I’ve gotten into UCI and am appealing UCD, I’m getting the response of the appeal by friday and since I’m going to be gone from friday to sunday, I’ll have to say yes or no that day without having ever visited Davis. Yeah I know chances are I won’t get in on appeal, but if I do, should I choose Davis over Irvine which I had visited and thought was okay?

I figured Davis would be better for Political Science considering it’s near the capital. I’m just worried saying yes without visiting would be a bad idea.

I live in the Bay Area, so I’m used to that area anyways, so it’s not that big of a deal, I’m just worried the campus might suck or something.

So, UCI vs. UCD, Political Science, which is the better school?

btw. I’m posting this at both the UCI and UCD forum, to get a better (Hopefully unbiased) view.

Being near the capitol is a great advantage for UCD. I read a post somewhere in CC by a UCD student saying there are plenty of internships at Sacramento. Davis has one of the highest rates of internships for undergraduate majors (about 70%).

In addition, UCD is a true college town where students stay on campus often. This would definitely be a plus for meeting people and joining clubs. UCD's campus is awesome. I personally love it, but you may differ in opinion. Aside from the major, do you have any questions about the campus/life at Davis? Maybe some of us can answer to clear anything up.

EDIT: Both schools are great choices for your major. When it comes to your major, UCD vs. UCI seems to dwell upon the campus, rather than the education. (I may be wrong, but you can get a great undergrad education anywhere!)

Thanks for the insight, I don't think I have any other questions really. I imagine UCD isn't that much different than UCI in terms of dynamics, and your college life is really what you make it I hear, so I've been more focused on academic differences.

I like how Davis is near the Bay Area, been here all my life and it's a good environment, but I'd be closer to my parents which sucks! hah

Anyways chances are my appeal will be denied, but I decided to seek advice just in case. Thanks.

I also appealed, and I'm really scared because UCD has been my favorite school for a long time. I agree college is what you make of it, but UCD and UCI are two very different schools, each with their own uniqueness. I would recommend you choose the campus that best fits you.

I think UCD would fit me better because my Bay Area situation and some of my friends are going to go there while no one I know is going to Irvine. I just don't think I have that whole "SoCal" attitude really.

UCD (Norcal, heh) is so legit. i'm turning down chancellor's scholarship at UCI and a spot at Revelle, UCSD for UCD.

Props to you, doraemon.
