I got into UC Irvine and I'm waiting on UC Davis, but which would be better for political science and international affairs? And how about the campus overall? Thanks!

Not sure about the classes themselves but UCD does have an advantage of being close to Sacramento so really nice internship options there
also if im not mistaken UCI is more of a commuter school than UCD.

UC Davis has a much stronger Poli Sci Dept. Irvine is strong in the sciences but not the social sciences. Better social life at Davis, and opportunities in Sacramento and DC.

Why don’t you visit both campuses and then decide? Where do you live? Do you like being close to home or not? If you are coming from NorCal and you choose UCI, you might end up being really lonely on weekends…almost everyone leaves.

Davis does not have a “much stronger” political science department and, in any case, it hardly matters for undergrad. You should make the decision entirely off where you’d rather live for four years. Davis and Irvine, as schools, can otherwise be considered identical.

From what I’ve heard, unless your major is heavily reliant on university equipment then the choice doesn’t make that big of a difference prestige wise, at least between two schools that are very similarly ranked. For Poli Sci (IDK a whole lot about it) but it seems like you would get the same education anywhere since the tools needed aren’t that important. So jsut choose the campus and neighboring area you like more.
