UCI vs UCSD Dance Major?

Hi! I applied to UCI and UCSD as a Dance Major and got accepted into both schools, however at UCI I got accepted into my alternate major (Psychology) and at UCSD, I got accepted as a Dance major.

I was really hoping to get into the UCI dance department, but I'm still planning to continue training in LA or perhaps join a hip hop team outside of the department. They also said I could attend the placement auditions during zero week and try to audition for the major again.

I've heard good things about the UCI dance department, but I've never heard anything about the UCSD dance department (and it didn't even require an audition, while UCI did), so I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about UCSD?

I really had my sights set on UCI, because of its location in relation to LA/Hollywood and home and some of the hip hop teams at that school, but I don't know enough about UCSD to just dismiss it, yaknow?

(I'm mainly a hip hop dancer, and I'm not extremely trained in the ballet/jazz/modern, but I do train and I do take it very seriously.)

You could have lots of fun at UCI and do plenty of hip hop as an EC. The dance department is excellent, but I’m not sure if you can take classes as a non-major. There is no guarantee you’ll get in as a dance major later, how will you train for that–you would have to substantially improve from where you are now. UCSD is a great school, and you can double major in dance and something else. If you really want to get educated and dance, UCSD could be a great choice, and the dance program is small.
