Uci waitlist discussion thread class of 2024

Wow, so no one is getting off even this week?

@BreadButter33 seems like it, just the engineering kids on tuesday got off.

The last day to commit, for the people in the first wave is the 17th, so we can expect another wave after that date

@KingVG7 thanks for the info. i literally don’t get why tho? kids in the engineering school have nothing to do with kids in the school of social sciences.

I had the same thought too, they can easily do another wave for other schools, ICS and social sciences, but so far they haven’t

Has anyone in the film and media studies major gotten off the waitlist?

Has anyone gotten off the waitlist for Aerospace Engineering?

@valette The Henry Samueli School of Engineering have already given their waitlist offers on Tuesday. They usually aren’t major specific, more like School specific. So probably.

Apparently an INT got off for CS a few weeks back, what does that mean for the rest of us domestic applicants who are still on the ICS waitlist :frowning:

Can you please link where you saw this? I haven’t heard of anyone else getting off the ICS waitlist, but I hope that some of us can still get in.

Sorry it’s not letting me post it, but if you go on the applying to college subreddit and search up “UCI” then sort by new, you should find a post from one day ago that says “UCD vs UCI”

That’s really interesting, it’s the first time I’ve seen anyone off the waitlist for an ICS major. Hopefully, we’ll hear about more waitlist decisions next week.

I saw it on reddit too, but I think its fake cause I didn’t hear anyone get off the waitlist 2 weeks ago for any major

Actually, there were a handful of students on this thread that got off the waitlist two weeks ago (April 28) for different majors.

I believe the May 17th deadline is for the second wave. There was already an initial wave on April 28th

According to last year’s thread, waitlist closed on the 28th. Of course it was a different process last year (apparently you were able to appeal/send a LOCI, not sure if I’m just reading the thread wrong) but it’s still mindboggling as to why they’re taking so long to send out acceptances for certain schools. I doubt they filled every major in the School of Social Sciences without admitting from the waitlist, ESPECIALLY because I know a few people who declined their offers for various majors housed there.

Looking at last year’s trends, there looking at last year’s trend, the last day wel’ll prob know is the 24th.

This year it could be completely different, they only had one waitlist wave after the May 1 deadline, and by the looks of Ucsb and Ucla’s waitlist there could be a lot more waves

I wouldn’t rely on UCI, since it admits a notoriously small amount of people from the waitlist. I will say you likely have at least a 1 in 3 chance on the UCB or UCSD waitlists.

Also, it looks like no ICS majors are getting off the waitlist because they are instead offered admission as “undeclared.” When spaces are available for their selected major, they will receive an email informing them of an opportunity to switch into their first-choice major.
