UCI, what were your stats?

as the title says... if you got into UCI what were your stats?
i need some help on if i can get in or not..

SAT I: 650 math, 580 writing, 530 critical reading
SAT II: 520 math2c, 570 ushist
GPA: 4.00 10-11 (went up senior year, but sadly they dont care)
EC: soccer all 4 years, varsity 2.
class rank: 21, 90th percentile.

already the 11th and no word yet. online or in the mail. please share your opinions.

oh i bet u woudl get in

I was admitted, my stats are as follows:
4.00 UC GPA
SAT: 1860
SAT II: 710 bio-m, 620 Spanish
Class Rank (although i dont' think they look for it. UC apps don't ask for class rank) 60/472

thanks, thats gotten my confidence up a little bit. you had the ELC thing right?

4.06 UC GPA
SAT: 1880
SATII: 800/800
No ELC (If I somehow made three people disappear from my school, I could've been ELC...)

Irvine In.

Sorry, but what's ELC?

Never mind, I found out. I don't know what it stands for though.

something Learning Context. it pretty much means that youre a california resident in the top 10 percent of your school... THEY SAY, it guarantees acceptance to atleast one UC.. but then thats retarded. i could just apply to berkely and say tahts the guarantee thing.... but i guess if you do all of them theyll have to let you in riverside or something

Eligibility in Local Context.

if you are ELC you are in the top 4% of your high school and they usually give you admission to a lower UC. Usually UCR, but this year they gave UCI. They told us in september that we were ELC's, and a few weeks later we got letters telling us what college we were guranteed admission too.

I read online somewhere that as long as you meet the UC-requirements they "try" and give you admission to at least one UC school... but it usually isnt the one u want to go to.

thers 2 different types of ELC... top 4 or 5... then top 10. i think ELC gives you the advantage over others, then the top 5 percent get the thing you just mentioned.

Anyone who has given up hope on UCI, check out my stats, you could still get in!!!!
Accepted-
3.6 UC GPA
1850 SAT
SAT IIs- US Hist 720 Spanish Lang. 710
I had the ELC consideration, which was basically anyone in the top 10% of my class.
EC- Competitive Swimming from 10th-12th about 25 hours a week

Accepted
3.81 UC GPA
35 ACT
800 IIC
800 Bio

thats all they care about anyways

What is the UC GPA?

ok, so if i took all unweighted classes, and got 4.0 all through 10-11. my UCGPA is a 4.0?

there are no 10% or 5% elc....

Eligibility in Local Context (elc) means you are a student in ca who is ranked in the top 4% of your class.

some uc guarantee acceptance to those who got their elc number..such as ucsb

ur ucgpa is capped at 4.5 but realistically you can only get as high as 4.4 unless you are taking less than 6 classes a semester.

Sympathy yes there is one for the 10%. If you were selected for ELC then you would know, because they sent out notification of request for your transcripts to all those who were in the top 10%, those who were not in the ELC, and thus not in the top 4% were still recognized as having qualified for ELC, just not being selected for ELC.

no, i'm definitely not even close to being ELC

sooo according to my stats, i wouldnt really stand a chance at UCI ?

i think u could get in. your GPA is good, but test scores are not so great. who knows though, stay optimistic.

good luck with it

im ELC..and i got a letter from UCI saying that im guaranteed accepted there..but i still havent got an admissions decision from them yet...what the heck ? >=|
