UCI's orientation: mandatory?

i can't make this friday's, for the UCI orientation. am i a bit screwed?

What orientation are you talking about?

UCI’s transfer orientation (“Transfer Success”) isn’t until the end of June/ beginning of July, and you schedule your mandatory academic advising appointment through your department, so I’d assume you could easily reschedule that if you had to.

If it’s the orientation you were sent from your specific school, then you have to reschedule it. If you don’t, then you will end up getting the last spot and most likely miss out on getting your choice of classes for the quarter. (You aren’t able to sign up for classes until your school takes off your ‘hold’"

i am a fool and should not read things right after finals.

yeah. i meant UCI’s transfer success orientation. apparently i thought my email - the only indication for orientation - said june 8, not july 8. i wasn’t given a specific date to attend - just end of june/beginning of july was the opened dates for attending. i haven’t been given ANY scheduled time/date for advising.

the email mentions it isn’t mandatory. i know it’s through my department that i get an appointment, but is it necessary to do the transfer success orientation in order to set up an appointment for advising and classes?

No, transfer success is optional. Some schools will be offering the mandatory orientation on the afternoon of the days transfer success will be happening. So that is kind of convenient if you can schedule for one of these dates and attend both.
