@giriboy is this your first time logging in? …because you can’t read your appeal once you’ve submitted it. I’ve been checking frequently and I have no problem logging in.
@giriboy @insertuser i tried logging into the appeals to admission decisions page and couldn’t either - says that ‘Freshmen appeals are no longer being accepted at this time.’ I used to be able to log in and see my letter. On the other hand, I have no problem logging into the admissions decisions page, where the decision is supposed to be released.
@bubblegumthumper ohh ok yeah I have the same exact problem as you! good to know that it’s not just me then haha. This probably might mean appeals decision will come out soon?? im hoping lmao
@insertuser no it’s not my first time logging in. I was able to read my appeal even after I submitted btw.
@giriboy ohhh I tthought you meant the decisions page. I’ve only ever logged into the decisions page so I didn’t know what you were talking about lol
This might be the longest the appeals committee is taking so far lol
Any updates on when will they release decisions on appeals…
Im getting worried because appeal decisions have been released by this time in May for the past 2 years… a ton of people are getting off the waitlist so I’m guessing they will go through the waitlist before considering appeals
@allys Yes they admit waitlisted people first because if you are on the waitlist you are technically good enough to go but there isn’t enough space. Appeals are for denied students so appeals are only processed after Direct admits and waitlist are processed. They will accept appeals if there is enough evidence to warrant so and there is space.
@10s4life I think what @allys means is that this hasn’t been the process in the past (even though it makes sense). In the past, appealed and waitlisted students heard back from the admissions office at the same time. Now, it seems that waitlists will be looked at first and then appeals.
By the way they suddenly changed their process this year, it’s honestly making me lose hope about getting in. There is no way that there will be room for us AND all the waitlisted kids. All the other UCs already notified their appealed students too…(friend got into UCSB via appeal).
Just called in again and they said that they’re looking at appeals at the same time as waitlists. (So they are currently looking at appeals right now as well)
@insertuser Just because they are reviewing appeals and waitlists at the same time, does not mean appeals decisions will be released with waitlist decisions.
i called on Thursday i believe they said it could take up to 3 weeks for all appeals
Ugh, I check the portal every single day and this thread and I just keep losing hope every single time I check. I understand its a lot of work to go through appeals and waitlists, but just whyyy do they have to change their ways and order of looking at them this year specifically Hopefuly they come out soon
@hb2017 I know that the UC system issued a new policy this year that only 20% of students in the UC system can be out of state students, so admissions officers are probably managing their need for out of state students in order to provide funding for their schools. Since most of us appealing students are in state students, we do not have a very high chance of acceptance. I am not appealing to UCLA actually. Instead I am appealing to Berkeley, but both schools are part of the UC system.
isnt this probably the most latest ucla has ever released appeal decisions? i think way too many people enrolled into ucla this year and theres not space for us
@Bakasworld oh, several people already heard back from Berkeley. And I heard the opposite? More students will be accepted out of state (after a long history of in state student exclusivity). Apparently the UCs need more money and since no financial aid is given to out of state students, they’re accepting more students who are willing to pay for that hefty price tag.
@insertuser Where did you see the posts that stated Berkeley freshmen appeals decisions have been released? Also, my post was meant to support the fact that UC’s are trying to accept as many out-of-state students as they can because they need the money from out-of-state students and can only keep 20% of percent of students.
@Bakasworld Ah I thought it might have been more than 20% though haha. And my friend told me his appeal was rejected
When did your friend find out he was rejected?
@insertuser Was he waitlisted or did he get rejected and appealed?
@concernedmama not sure
@Bakasworld got rejected initially, sent in appeal, got rejected again
