Hi guys so basically this is my story…
I applied to ucla for fall 2019 as a political science major with a 3.8-3.9 in terms of general gpa and a 4.0 gpa for all the required major courses ucla wanted. I think I did pretty well on my essays and also had a good amount of extra curricular a activities and all. But here is the problem the igetc requires foreign language which I didn’t take in community college. Back in high school however I did take two years of Spanish but I was not a good student in hs I got a c the first year than a d the second so I had to retake the class. I took the second Spanish class at some random private school because I heard the teacher was very nice and I hated the Spanish teachers at my hs. Yah didn’t get very good grades in hs but completely changed in college. Idk if I’ll get rejected for this.
As long as last term of second year of hs language is a C- or better, it’s accepted for IGETC.
@Ohm888 I also took Spanish courses for three years in high school. So, I was waived to take foreign language courses in my CC. How do UC admissions know that I took foreign language courses in high school though? They did not even ask me for a high school transcript when applying an UC application. Do they request for a high school transcript after accepting? Or did I make a huge mistake on my application…?
@hodol2006 To certify IGETC your CCC will ask for it, but after you are admitted the UC will request it.
But how UC campuses know that I completed IGETC? I am kinda worrying if they think I have not completed foreign language, and it affects my admission decisions… since I did not take any foreign language course in my CCC. @Ohm888
You need to get IGETC certified by your CCC in June. You need to give the CCC your high school transcript.
I reported 2 years of high school level spanish and got into UCI and UCR. They do indeed accept 2 years of hs foreign language as waiving your igetc requirement.
