UCLA AAP Transfer Scholars

Anyone attended? I'm actually here on campus at Powell Library the turnout was really good there was a large number of people. I noticed that we got seperated based on our major and I also noticed that those few with the tan sheets were Econ majors and those more prevalent red, yellow, and pink sheets were from the college of letters and science. I had pink for poli sci and there were a few of us not as much as english, psych, or soc. Anyway it is cool we had soul food and met a lot of interesting new UCLA transfers as well as familiar faces from AAP and STOMP. Anybody in here doing the Summer Program at UCLA (TSP)? Let me know if you think its worth paying the $200 or so bucks to take those classes I turned in the paperwork and hopefully I get in. Also I might have seen some of you here who knows.

MexBruin.....couldn't go after a while. It was my school's graduation. Anyway...glad to hear it went well and there was a great turnout. I'll have to e-mail them and ask them what I missed......

Did they basically present things everyone already knew, things tthat are readily found on the website? If so, then I guess I didn't miss anything....lol.

Yeah except what you did miss if anything was a great opportunity to network with the professrs and chancellor Carnesale (surprised how accessible he was). Everything there is the same info on the website though so you didnt miss out on anything else.

Mexbruin....thank you so much. Between you and me, even if I didn't have "Graduation", I was sooo exhausted from all the finals, papers, prjects and other things that come with Graduation and finishing out the semester that I think that I would have been so exhausted, if you know what I mean. My brain was just so fried that I don't think I could have cared who I was meeting lol.

Anyway, excellent, would you mind telling me a little more about the Summer program? What classes are 200 dollars? I woudn't have asked if it was anywhere on the site...I looked, of course.

Anyway, sounded like you all had a great time!

the transfer science program a six-week intense 3 course mini summer quarter you pay $200 ($2000 if you decide t live on campus) and take two mandatory classes an english writign course and a psychology course then yu choose another one from three options: Sociology, chicano studies, and another psych/political science course. Its similar to the summer bridge program they have for new freshmen. The classes will coun towards your degree and some benefits to doing the transfer summer program they mentioned were that by the time fall quarter starts you wont be a deer in the head light you will know how to register for classes, you will know where everything is located, you will have an idea of the structure of a quarter system and most importantly you will get your writing, critical thinking, analytical, and studying skills from actual professors at ucla who hold weekly 10-20 student groups where you discuss the material and sharpen all the skills I mentioned. THere is a waitlist becaus for transfers there is only bout 150-200 spots for an entering class of about 300. I turned in my app at the aap day but you can submit one online just look for it on your my.ucla.edu page.

Thank you so much.....I appreciated the info! However.....those courses don't sound like anything I would be required to do. Do they really apply to your major? lol Sounds like a great deal though nonetheless, but I'm definitely going to have to work this summer to get ahead on some expenses......

I'll look into it though, might be worth a shot!
