UCLA and other high tier school admission

Hi guys. I’m a junior in high school right now and I’m looking into some colleges. It would be awesome if you could let me know my chances of getting into UCLA or other high tier schools based on what I’ve done so far. I’m only listing honors or ap classes. I’ve gotten A’s in all of the other classes that are non-honors. The grades i post represent both semesters of the course.

Freshmen Year:
Bio(H): A
(H) Comp Sci 1: A
(H) Literature: A

Sophomore Year:
(H) Precalculus: A
(H) Chemistry: A
AP European History: A
(H) Literaute: A
(H) Comp Sci 2: A

Junior Year (1st semester)
AP US History: A
AP Calculus AB: A
AP Physics: A
AP Lang: A
(H) Comp Sci 3: A

SAT Scores (I know UCLA doesn’t super score but I’m going to put it down anyway because some schools do):

Super score: 2290
M:770
CR:720
W:800

My Best Individual SAT Test: 2230
M:710
CR:720
W: 800

Extracurriculars:

I’m club president of my school’s Chapter of Habitat for Humanity
I have 100+ volunteer hours
I am a member of the National Honors Society
I participate in Track and Field in the Spring
I plan to have an internship for Boeing over the summer.

@swappyp123 Are you in state or out of state? It does make a difference. Either way, make sure to stress LA in the application while not letting that detract from the value you bring as someone from a different locale.

i am in state

@vibrantviolet i am in state

@swappyp123 Okay, that helps considerably. Emphasize that super interesting internship with Boeing and any experiences that make you really unique. They have approximately a 17.3% acceptance rate and value connection to media and the arts in extracurriculars so if you can expand upon that and somehow incorporate less mainstream ECs into your schedule at this point, go for it. Perhaps an arts initiative through Habitat for Humanity?
Other than that, it seems to be a low reach.

@vibrantviolet hmm… arts? i will consider it but i plan to engineering or biology and i don’t know if that will suite me. However, thanks for the advice. Just a comment now: Some universities just seem too hard to get into nowadays. I believe you when you say I have a low reach, but it just seems so weird how that is true. With my 4.83 GPA and a 2200+ SAT, it seems almost impossible for me to find time for other activities, yet i do somehow, and there are still THOUSANDS who are so far better qualified than me. I am considered the #1 student at my school (or so I have been told) and it is very depressing and humbling to realize the vast amount of people that really do put this much effort into getting accepting. I wish college weren’t so competitive, not because i don’t like a challenge, but simply because i am putting every bit of effort i can muster and I still lack qualifications. Thanks anyway violet and sorry that you had to read my rant.

Actually I believe you are a high match or even a match if you take 2 SAT subject tests with scores of 750+ (one to be math 2) and finish your Junior year as strong as your past work)!
(For biology a match, and for engineering high-match)

Solid match. UCLA’s (2014) admit rate was above 50% for SAT of 2100+. You have that, and your GPA is very high. Good luck!

@uclaparent9 @UWfromCA Thanks for the encouragement guys, I will keep up the good work

^And with your strong character (I realized that in your post #5), which I am sure will be reflected also in your essays, you have an even stronger chance to make it to UCLA.

You have pretty good chances at UCLA - I’m assuming you’re applying for the CS major? Berkeley EECS isn’t a sure thing but you should definitely apply there as well.

@goldenbear2020 actually i plan to either major in biology or some other engineering that isn’t CS, even though I am currently taking a computer science course.
