Okay guys here is the deal, this is pretty difficult to explain.
So I applied to UCLA, UCB , and UCSD for chemical engineering.
I am , however, interested in aerospace engineering rather than chemical engineering.
But obviously UCB does not offer aerospace engineering.. my next favorite course is chemical engineering.. So when I chose chemical engineering in the application it said that "it was an impacted major and I should include why Im interested in this major in the personal statement". I did that.. and so naturally I was kind of forced to apply to chemical engineering to UCLA and UCSD as well, because well my personal statement was based on chemical engineering.
So if I am admitted to chemical engineering in UCLA is there any chance of me to switch in to Aerospace engineering? It should be easier for me because I will be studying engineering anyways right?
Thanks for the advice

Bump! Can anyone respond?

Bump… Please?

Email admissions.

Hmm… after I get my acception/rejection from the university? Or now? I think it would be better to wait till I got accepted… i don’t wanna mess anything up or be considered for a different major considering my uc essays were based on chem engineering

I know with UC Davis, if you decide to enroll, you have to attend the Freshman orientation based on your College and Major. If you want to change majors, you need to wait until you have started Fall Quarter and get approval from the new department. Since you are changing from 1 type of engineering to another, it probably will not make a difference so it is best to wait for the acceptance first.

Okay thanks so much for the advice man!
Changing majors within the school of engineering at UCLA: http://www.seasoasa.ucla.edu/undergraduates/chmaj/within-engineering
For UCSD, all engineering majors are impacted. You may need to apply to switch into aerospace engineering, even if you are admitted to another impacted major (chemical engineering). http://maeweb.ucsd.edu/undergrad/ugadmissions
Check with the departments to see how easy or difficult it would be to switch AFTER you have been admitted and are deciding between schools.
@Gumbymom I noticed in a UC Davis thread that your younger son’s UC GPA was almost the same as mine, so I was wondering where he got accepted and where he is attending?
