Requesting major change

I want to change my major from Aerospace Engineering to Computer Science. But I listed in all my applications that I wanted to do Aerospace. what do I do to change it?

Thanks.

Most of the UC’s just want you to shoot them an E-mail to a certain address. I’m guessing you want to change it for UCLA or UCSD. UCLA will NOT allow you to change your major in Engineering since the deadline has passed for that college ([Reporting Changes - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/applicant/changes.htm)).

UCSD does not evaluate your admission based on what major you choose but after you are admitted, they will evaluate whether you qualify for Aerospace Engineering. Computer Science is not impacted so in my opinion, just wait till you get in and then change your major. Aerospace IS impacted here so it’s better if you get in as Aerospace so that if you change your mind again, you still have a shot at being an Aerospace Engineering major. I hear you can even change your major online once you are admitted using their triton link website tool.

pretty sure you can switch after you’re transferred, as long as the one you want isn’t super impacted.

does Cal allow you to change majors?

i can’t speak for cal…but i know 3 transfers @ucla that changed their majors after one week of classes.

At Cal, you declare your major after your first semester there after transferring. Although they do admit you based on the department of the major you applied for, the major is still not official until after that semester. You can chooses whatever you want but make sure you can have all of your prereqs done by the end of this semester with good grades if you want them to approve your request. You can also probably switch again after this but I can imagine it being considerably harder.

do you you know if this applies to changing from college of chemistry to college of engineering too?

I applied as a chemical engineering & materials science engineering and want to change it to bio engineering & materials science engineering.
