@RUE1998 you most definitely should appeal and talk about the honors courses. That’s very compelling information because your original reported course work didn’t reflect the true rigor of your academics! a lot of people (from what I’ve read), who have successfully appealed, reported mistakes like that in their appeal letters. Definitely worth a shot!
@eric2020 I would just look at previous ucla appeal threads. There are definitely some success stories.
How long does it usually take after submitting an appeal to find out your decision?
Appeals are a wild card. It could be anytime from now (which would be a very rare case) to June 1st (it happened early/mid May for my former classmates, but I’ve seen a lot of late May early June too).
Alright, its 5 PM. Now to wait until the decisions come out!
@mikuru I thought the late May/early June period was only for transfer appeal decisions?
@LowkeySalty Nah, they’re generally a wild card. They’re not like waitlists, so it could really be anytime.
Last year, the first reports of appeals decisions came in on the 29th. The year before it was the 30th, and those dates were both on a Wednesday. Is it possible that next Wednesday, the 27th, the first wave could come out? Also, does anyone know if a certain wave offers acceptances, and another doesn’t? Or is it all just random?
@cahopeful2020 I sent in my letter of appeal last year on april 15th, and got rejected on the 30th if that helps. Think it’s just random
Anyone heard back from UCLA about their appeal yet?
Does anyone have any news of appeal waves or if they’ve gotten a decision ?
My sites down
Pretty sure this evening transfer decisions are being released so the portal is down. Also hoping that some appeals decisions will be posted too!
No I appealed
Has anyone gotten word of their appeals yet? Or anyone who got in previous years through appeal tell us around what date they got their news?
Also congrats to transfer students who got in
Hey y’all.
I also was denied admissions.
I am going to appeal. My reasoning will be centered around my desire to stay local to continue the serve my community - I have major relationships and responsibilities with several grassroots organizations. One that includes protecting residents from eminent domain displacement, and another is my dedicated involvement in a traditional cultural group that serves the community in various ways. Both groups need me as much as I need them - and relocating would be a very difficult thing to do. (accepted to UCSB, waitlisted UCSD, waiting on Berkeley)
Are these good reasons for appeal?
I also will also make letters of recommendation available upon request.
@tete411 Appeals can be submitted starting May 2nd.
It’s getting close to the end of the month!!! Has anyone heard or noticed any significant changes in their portal? I have not. I don’t know exactly for sure, but April 30 was the first word in 2014 and April 29 last year! Those were both Wednesdays, so this Wednesday (tomorrow), could be the first wave if they are following the same pattern. The regular decision came out earlier due to the leap year orientation of the calendar, so let’s hope it’s the same plan for appeals! Really hope we all hear before May 1, best of luck to all!
@ricardomata83, you must be a transfer correct? I believe the rest of us are incoming freshmen. Also, I would just try it. It can’t hurt.
@livinglife8 Yes, transfer student. My whole support system is here in Los Angeles, I have no brothers or sister or parents - just my community. I would really hate to leave now when the environment is prime for me to flourish AND contribute to my community. And yeah, i feel like if I don’t appeal, then I’m not trying hard enough.
@ricardomata83 after reading so much about appeals this is something I’ve gathered, there are many colleges in LA so you need to explain why you need to be at UCLA over the other colleges there. Having a need to be in LA is just not a strong enough case alone. Does that make sense? But what do I know? Just some advice.
