UCLA Appeal Discussion

Hi! There doesn’t seem to be an general appeal discussion thread for this year, so I wanted to go ahead and make one so we can all talk about our appeal processes, ask/answer questions, and update each other once UCLA responds. The odds are very low, but in some situations appealing is worth a shot! I wish you all good luck. Remember that we will end up where we are meant to be, UCLA or not!

I appealed my rejection to UCLA and I just checked my admissions portal and saw that they updated my portal today saying they are in the process of reviewing my appeal. DO you have that too?

@edls07 yep

Hi, I am a person who appealed last year!
Honestly, they do not even LOOK AT IT. It is SO RARE TO GET IN OFF APPEAL. I had such high hopes. I ended up going to community college instead of a 4 year. I applied as a transfer this year and I am waiting for my decision now. If going to UCLA is your main thing, I recommend community college.

@urlocalreject I understand how low the chances are and am not in any way expecting to get in. I’m planning on going to UC Davis in the fall and I’m very happy to say that. I just did the appeal as a “why not?” type of thing. There was some info (receiving an academic excellence award from UCLA and also a course I took senior year) that I didn’t include in my app by mistake. So if I’m going to be rejected I want to be rejected with them knowing everything instead of wondering “what if they knew about my missing info” later on ?

will covid-19 affect the chances of getting off appeal

I also just got rejected as a transfer student from UCLA. I never once spoke about my family crises. I am currently writing my appeal up and hope to get it in by the first day of them accepting them, May 1st-May15 (5 pm).
Does anyone know how long they will take to get back a response?

Did you get in this past friday as a transfer to UCLA?

Can you guys give some good tips what to include in the Appeal? I know some people that did an appeal and they got rejected. I am losing hope

@Questions7700 Most people who appeal will get rejected. It is very rare to be accepted after appealing, but not impossible. Appeals were due a while ago so any tips won’t be helpful at this point. It’s all up to the people who read the appeals now. Just make sure you keep your options open and SIR to another school by the deadline (which for most is May 1). Don’t worry about things that are out of your control. Good luck!

Check your appeals! I was rejected

@PleaseFrenchFry were you in state or oos

I was in-state. I live in California.

According to a reddit post, apparently someone’s aunt is an AO and she said the latest you will hear back from a waitlist or appeal is May 8th. Not sure how true that is.
