UCLA appeals

It seems that quite a few students are getting in through appeals. I THINK (my theory) UCLA may have set aside a few more appeal spots this year seeing how 55k applied and alot of those applicants who were accepted were very qualified and possibly got into a top private/cal etc just as a safety blanket for themsleves..

Yay, you give me hope ;). I can't believe how long they're taking for decisions though... I am hoping that if a lot of people didn't submit their SIR they'll allow a few more appeals to be granted, maybe that's why they're waiting so long (after May 1st, when most say they'll get back to you before then)?

me too, yes, it seems on here that a lot of people are turning down UCLA and they used it as a safety school, i hope that even though over 50k did apply, this will backfire on them and not a lot of people will actually end up going to ucla, example- 2 kids i know from my school are turning down ucla

i wish you guys the best of luck

Meza007,

Using this site as a sample of the average college student population is like using Beverly Hills as a sample for the United States-- e.g. not very accurate.

hey man i was just giving an example, these kids were extremely smart and them turning down ucla was shocking to me

Yeah, but I wouldn't put much stock into any examples here. The upper upper echelon posters on this site are very rare people.

about 20 kids at my school was accepted into UCLA but only 2 are going because the rest got accepted into CAL and is going there.

contrary to most years, most people at my school (and neighboring schools) are going to ucla. we had 27 acceptances and 17 people are going to LA. 4 are going to CAL. the other 6 are going to stanford and mit. i turned cal down for la.

in the past few years, we usually have 15+ going to cal and only about 8 go to la every year. this year the tables turned.. :</p>
