Hey, I'm probably in the same boat as a lot of people and I was wondering exactly what the options are (those of us who are too stubborn to let go), assuming I'd only want to go to LA.

From what I understand, UCLA admits around 9000 students. From these 9000, about half that will actually attend the college (to those confused about the rejection letter's statistics).

I always hear about people getting in after staying a quarter at home or even people getting guaranteed transfers after two years (all from direct close friends and relatives, not through the grapevine). Are these options that are specifically mailed to the people who qualify or do we have to look for them ourselves?

Are there any smart/clever ideas as to what to do now? Somebody tell me something that will ease my mind. I didn't care too much for LA, but what depresses me the most is the fact that if I didn't get into LA, there's no way Berkeley is in reach.

I feel the same exact way. I'm not that interested in UCLA, but if I didn't get in here, I'm thinking about my chances at all the other schools.

Just stay strong until March 30th I guess.

You can always try to appeal your decision. You can search for it on the UCLA website.

Tons of ppl get into Cal and not LA every year

Why does your heart, soul, spirit and academic sanity depend exclusively on UCLA?

The following CCs have the most transfers into UCLA:

583 - Santa Monica College - 4 miles away
183 - Pasadena City College - 19 miles away
132 - Orange Coast College - 41 miles away
131 - El Camino College - 15 miles away
125 - Los Angeles Pierce College - 11 miles away
117 - Glendale Community College - 14 miles away

My recommendation to you is to get a job at UCLA cutting grass or cleaning toilets while you attend one of the CCs above for the next two years. Maybe you'll get lucky and UCLA will allow employees to attend classes p/t at a discount.

My friends, Friend A, B, and C all applied to UCLA.

Friend A had a 4.3 and a 2100 on his SATs.

Friend B had a 3.8 and a 2320 on his SATs.

Friend C had a 3.9 and a 2010 on his SATs.

None of us got in. Now I'm just waiting on Berkeley
