I am transferring to UCLA in the fall as an art major and I am wondering if transfers are supposed to start out taking the advanced courses. Does anyone know? Or am I supposed to sign up for the normal, beginning classes?

They will explain everything during orientation. Have you signed up for it? It really depends on what prerequisites you’ve completed for the upper division courses. Some only require UD standing, while others require 1-2 prerequisites.

Oh, I see. I can’t sign up until June 6th but I’m planning on attending. I took like 6 of the pre req classes out of about 10. So, I’m not really going to be able to plan my classes until the actual orientation? I was hoping to have somewhat of a plan going into the orientation because I know you only get a little window of time to sign up for classes.

What’s your major? Just art?

Here are the courses offered for both Art and Art History. Look at the upper division courses and it should tell you what prerequisites are needed for that course.

Congrats BTW, only 2 or 3 students make it into UCLA Art as transfers each year.
