UCLA Biochemistry

I've been admitted to UCLA as a class of 2006. I'm wondering about the differences of pre-med and biochemistry and if biochemistry is a challenging course. Any comment would be great~!

Also, I registered for single room as a freshman and I heard that most freshman will not be able to even get a double room. Well, I already signed up for it and I'm wondering, would I be able to get into a single room?

Thank you.

pre-med is not a major. biochem is considered to be one of the more challenging science majors. the biochem coursework will cover most of the pre-med requirements, but there will still be a few left. i'm a biochem major...join the club! :D

and getting a single room is very very unlikely for a freshman.

heard anything about microbiology???

Pfft.. it's all about biophysics. So says the physics councelor. lol.

biology! haha. if people just want to be pre-med, i suggest you just being a life science major instead of a physical science major.

Physiological Science Major is the best :)

Tony, I see you're set on getting into Med School.

Hehe, I have competition. :)

I'll probably switch from bio to physio too.

haha, awesome. Competition rocks :)
Actually, I wouldn't mind Public Health either.

Hmmm I currently have a huge interest in chem/biochem, but I don't plan to go to med school. is there anything else i can do with this major?

graduate school or work for biotech companies.

first years are pretty much guarunteed triples. suck it upppp. it ain't that bad.

so is going pre med at ucla INSANELY competitive? or just very competitive?

Fact: There has never been a successful pre-med fraternity at UCLA.
Think about what that entails.

so you can't drink and do chemistry at the same time.....i see..

this does not bode well for us greek doctors (jk)
