that was just a random econ class but the others pretty much look the same. I didn’t see very many classes offered in the evening which is disappointment
^I agree with @CSB111. I know some econ/business econ majors and they always seem pretty stressed out from classes and the harsh tests and curves that they have to deal with. It’s kind of a brutal major. These are people who got 3.8s-4.0s in community college, mind you.
@Zalrons @cayton @CSB111, a few months ago I read an article about the brutal grading systems at some of the UCs, mainly in STEM. The writer talked a lot about berkeley engineering, you kill yourself, no social life and you’re at a 3.2. The article was saying this approach has to change if they want to attract and keep ppl. I’m sorry to hear that about UCLA’s Econ dept. It’s simply the wrong approach in my mind.
@lindyk8 Unfortunately this is definitely the case. When the professors don’t give out more than 20% As (and not raw As, 5-10% of those are A-), it doesn’t even make me want to try. I have a professor now that his tests are out of such low points and no partial credit, you miss a question and you shot down to a C. They have a bunch of untenured adjunct professors who are deathly afraid of the department/admin as well which is making the grade distributions ridiculous.
