UCLA has both business econ and just econ for undergrad majors. Can someone explain the difference? Also I plan on going to Grad. school for business, most likely Marshall School Of Business. Which will help me get in to grad school, which is more practical, prestigious etc.?

look at the course requirements for each major. i’m sure both majors have courses that they both share. from what i have heard, business econ is just econ with accounting classes. but i honestly don’t know. I think if you look at the courses offered for business econ, in addition to the econ classes, you have electives like “finance” or “real estate”, which are classes that any major can take if the classes arent filled up and if they have the prerequisites completed.
i personally think ucla has done a great marketing job. there are many 18 year olds who are so set on “business” as a major, and ucla catered to that market by having a major that has the word “business” in it so that it doesn’t lose potential students who can’t see beyond the word “business”.
it really doesn’t matter. both will open the same doors. you get into marshall by having great work experience. for all you know a theater major could get into marshall if he or she has impressive work experience.
