<p>Well, you are a nice applicant, but need to step it up a bit. Now, that does not mean that you can't do it, it is just you have some of work.</p>

<p>GPA: As you said, explain this on the Application. A good upward trend, meaning good grades junior year will show that you can handle work, just you had trouble your first two years</p>

<p>SAT 1: That is a pretty good score, but I would retake it and get around a 2200 to solidify your chances</p>

<p>SAT 2: You should take one or two, just to give you a boost</p>

<p>ECs: They are very good, yet a letter in a sport would help a little. </p>

<p>Community Service: Amazing, it should be a possible common application essay idea?</p>

<p>Other factors: Being URM will help a lot, and seeing that you are getting the IB diploma and you attend a competative HS shows that you are working at a high level.</p>

<p>Additional comments: I wish you the best of luck. If you do what I said, you will get into atleast 1 or 2, possibly more, of those schools. Also, varsity surfing= Only in california. :)(it sucks being in VA)</p>

<p>Being in state gives you a good chance at both the UCs and you are a good applicant for NYU. However, both the ivies are reaches for almost anyone, but you definitely have a shot!</p>
