I was wondering what are my chances to get into UCLA. My GPA is solid, right now it is a 3.6. In my senior year I am taking 3 AP classes as well as physics. The three AP classes are calculus, English, and Environmental Science. I am going to be a the person in my family to go to college. I have 5 little brothers and sisters with a single parent. I also do not live in the best community but a low income Hispanic community. My sat and act scores were not that great. It is not because I am not smart it is just that when it comes to those types of test I always seem to not do good. If anyone can give me their honest opinion on my chances of getting into UCLA I would be grateful. I would not get hurt just give me your honest opinion. Thank You.

You need a high GPA and SAT scores to get into UCLA. It’s one of the hardest UC schools to get into right after Berkeley.

So does that mean that my chances is slime to none then??

I would say you have around a 20% chance or lower. What’s your weighted gpa and total SAT scores?

My weighted gpa is 3.75 and my sat score was around a 1500. I know that is average SAT score. Which UC’s do you suggest I apply to??

UC Merced and UC Riverside are excellent matches. You may have a pretty decent chance at UC Santa Barbara and UC Santa Cruz, but UCLA, UC Berkeley are a bit out of your range. UC Davis, UC Irvine possible reaches. My advice is to write an amazing personal statement then you might have a better shot at your top schools. Who knows maybe you’ll get into UCLA- they are pretty irregular with their admissions. I’ve seen people with killer stats get rejected and those with poor to average stats get in. Best of luck to you :)

toan35 UC Santa Barbara is higher ranked and harder to get into than UC Irvine. So if someone has a “decent chance” at UCSB how would UCI be a reach?

and obeyyball, although your gpa and sat scores may be below average for UCLA, if you write an extremely good essay you could still have a decent chance! good luck!

Thank you all so much that means a lot

YEah, witht hose scores you don’t have much of a chance at all sorry. UCLA wants kids with 4.0+ and SAT Scores at least around 1900.

Lol not to be a dick but there’s no way in hell you’re getting in. I applied last year with a 4.3 gpa, 2260 SAT and 34 ACT and got rejected.
