Many very qualified applicants have posted their STATS and rejections from UCLA on CC and continue to do so. A lot of applicants from my CA high school were together last night comparing also. Many, many of them took all of the any APs offered at our school and received straight As and had competitive SAT scores. I was rejected with a 2340 and a W 4.2+ (did not apply to engineering). Simultaneously, a few kids from our school with much lower STATSA did get in and because they are known to us we know they had no hardship hook so it’s a mystery why they got in. It just goes to show there is a randomness component to admissions that just can’t be explained. Anyway, just wanted to point out that the rejects are in good company. Congrats to all of you that did get in!

Im just wondering why i didnt get in?

Anyways could someone please clear this up for me?

edit: it got posted at the very end but i was referring to a guy like many pages before who got in with a 1980 and a 3.3?

Hopefully i get the other UC’s UCLA isnt the end of the world haha, i live near LA anyways so Irvine, Riverside and SB arent too far same goes for SD. anyways so they will be close by. Hoping on Davis and SC too just guess well have to wait and see.

Congratulations to everyone who got in and best of luck to all who got rejected, may everyone succeed in their endeavors.

Does it appear that out-of-state kids had a better chance of being accepted, all else equal?

I have heard this theory, arguing that UC schools a) want more kids and b) more kids paying those out-of-state bucks. Heard the same about the U.Washington too.

I have also read that they only pick so many kids per your high school. So, if you go to a large So Cal high school with a lot of students applying, like my son, your chances might be less in getting in. For those rejected, my son visited UCLA after he applied and immediately pretty much crossed it off his list after the visit.

@Schoolissohard:

It is your GPA that got you rejected.
I had 4.09 UC GPA & 1900 Sat’s and I got rejected too. Now eagerly waiting for UCSD. I just hope I atleast get into UCSD.
