@SoCalDad reviewing it, I get your point, but to be honest, I have never seen PDT in normal use, nor PZT or any of the other variations, just PST.

PDT is used all the time. PST is not the time we are under at the present.

^^ fact.

I may just have a block towards all things daylight savings, since I consider it the poster child of governmental over-regulation - not to mention hubris.

I’ve lived in so cal for the past 12 years. I have only seen PST or people just spell out Pacific Time Zone. I’m sure I’m not alone. It’s one of those things that’s understood whenever daylight savings time ends and begins. It’s nothing to be a semantics-nazi over. These kids are nervous enough.

I am ultra nervous.
So far, I have been accepted in UCSD (although my major was Undeclared, bummer) and wait-listed in Georgia Tech. Basically, half admissions. XD
This is it. All or nothing.

what do you guys think about those who got the supplementals? lol any clues

Its 3.52 am here. Don’t know whether I should stay awake any longer or just hit the bed :S

@sinai96

Where are you applying from?

(by the way, I’d suggest just going to sleep-- or lat least setting an alarm for 5:30-6 PST :p)

Sinai, are you in New Zealand? Get some sleep!

I’ve never use PST or PDT. I always use Pacific Time to avoid confusion.

I’ve only heard of PST being used. The entire country is now an hour ahead so it doesn’t matter whether it’s daylight savings or not. People are just trying to know whether the 5 or 6pm projected release time is for the East or West Coast.

I know we’re on CC and all, but honestly, that is pretty pedantic.

1:30 am here in India and I’m close to losing my marbles. Major exam on the 26th and I haven’t been able to start prep thanks to these decisions. Today was pretty mixed; Regents Scholarship from UC Santa Cruz and a rejection from Northwestern. I just hope I get good news from UCLA
Has anyone applied to Claremont McKenna?

@Stanfordmania - my son has applied to CMC and UCLA, so he also gets the double today around 5PM our time (we are in Washington State) or later. And, being a Stanford alum, I like your username. Good luck to you.

@PuzzledParent Are his nerves frazzled too? I’m probably staying up till about 5:30 am Indian Time. Will try and get some studying in between the nervous breakdowns.
Haha thanks! I couldn’t apply to Stanford for extremely complicated reasons, but I’m still holding out for grad school!

Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, Cal Poly SLO, UCSB, UCD, UCI, UCSC, UCR,UCR…

4.14 am Goodnight everyone! Best of luck to y’all :)

@Stanfordmania - I think his mom’s and my nerves are more frazzled than his by this entire process. He is pretty laid-back. Plus, he has school and track practice today, so he totally occupied - it has to be worse for you given the time there!

@2018dad has the right idea. Just use Pacific Time. That conveys all that you need to know. But if you are going to use PST or PDT, you should at least use the right one.

20:14pm here, a Friday to be remembered for a lifetime…Few hours to go guys!!

@PuzzledParent I’m sure my parents totally sympathize. US admissions are a huge deal in India because most kids and parents are becoming cognizant of the lack of quality colleges here. The best college in the country requires one to sit five “board exams” and score an average of 99% (no exceptions unless you’re Christian - then you only need 70%) across four subjects for admission. Nothing else-transcript, co-curriculars etc-is considered. Thus the “mania” in my name :P
