OT here. I’ve never heard of that. I thought only lower caste has lower cutoff score. So how can the school verify your religion?

Stop you ■■■■■

@5oviet was that directed at me?

Yes it’s not out

@Whatever helps you sleep at night.

@SoCalDad2 LOL tell that to the 9 million-plus students sitting them Boards every year. My parents always quote the Beatles on me; ‘You don’t know how lucky you are, boy’.

@2018dad For most colleges, there’s a reservation only for “Backward Castes” and “Scheduled Tribes”. For St. Stephen’s (the college I’m talking about), members of the Church of North India too benefit from a reservation. In both cases, one must produce a certificate (issued by the govt.) before admission.

I guess only for people who received the Engineering Likely Letters. Sorry.

A government certified Christian… fancy that…

Honestly just stop there isn’t a point in posting like that. I received an engineering likely and have yet to receive my official decision. Please stop ■■■■ posting

@collegevetting To make matters worse, you have to have been a Christian for two years or more. Otherwise they assume you changed religions just to get into Stephens (it’s been done before, mind). Rumor has it that they test you on the Bible in the interview, but I personally call shenanigans on that.

Can you double dip? What if you are a Christian and an untouchable?

@2018dad Then you, sir, can step right up for a seat at the most prestigious and coveted college in a country of over a billion people, and probably get a scholarship while you’re at it! It’s even better if you pass the boards.

Not cool man, not cool.

I’m always fascinated with the caste system. I have a lot of Indian co-workers here in the US and in Bangalore. I work in the computer industry, so go figure.

BTW, you can click uclabound2018’s name and then click Ignore. Love that feature.

@2018dad It’s a really messed up, disgusting thing. My grandfather’s family was considered a part of the “upper caste” but they were all fairly educated, so they promptly gave up their “status”. I keep hearing stories of how their friends would refuse to come to their home for dinner, or even touch their pets because of this nonsense.
Even these days, when caste and so on are assumed to be things of the past, the government and lots of public institutions hand out a ton of unnecessary benefits to people of a “backward caste”. I have a friend at St. Stephens who owns five cars, has four chauffeurs and a housekeeper, and still benefits from being a member of such a caste. It’s properly disgusting.

PS: Is that an M6 Gran Coupe in your profile picture?

Yes, it is. I don’t have one but I have a 3 series. I used to be a BMW fanatic, to the point that I can memorize their models’ code (E36, E46, E90, etc.) and basic stat (HP, torque, etc.) for each models. I don’t keep up that much anymore. I joke with my daughter to just attend the college near us so that I can buy a new M6.
