Parents were active last year and offered a lot of advice. This isn’t just for applicants.
Agree 100% with @10s4life, @rocket88 !! Besides, what would we ALL do without @Gumbymom? I truly value reading the posts from the parents and the applicants/students. Everyone brings value to the discussion and experiences of navigating this crazy thing called the college experience.
MODERATOR’S NOTE
No. Any user in good standing is allowed to post on any thread. Parents actually have some good insight at times.
@VenomBuds - As an applicant you didn’t find value in dana37, #335 (parent) post? It’s a bit concerning that you are “very annoyed” that a parent would dare post a comment or a question regarding their child’s application. Yes, you are the one applying, working hard, writing essays, etc. But try to remember, we are the ones PAYING for it and supporting you through the process.
@skieurope - Thank you!
You’re welcome. And on that note, let’s move from this off-topic discussion which has nothing to do with UCLA.
On what day last year were UCL decisions released?
UCLA* excuse me haha
All first-year UCL applicants received decisions by the 31st of March, and had to fulfill all conditions by the 31st of August.
All first-year freshman UCLA applicants received decisions on the 18th of March.
Last year, decisions were released March 18th but Berkeley was released in March 24th. It’s likely that there would be a week between the two releases this year as well, so since Berkeley says they will release on March 30th, I would predict that UCLA be on March 23rd ish.
On a side note, the UCLA admitted student package is pretty sweet
Amen to above. My parents are planning on forking out over 100K for my upcoming college years and so …
well I’m not here to rebel against the hand that gives (or however that saying goes).
I have some questions to ask about the regents essay. Is there anyone I could ask in private to ask for some pointers?
@bruin2020 Hi, by any chance do know how important SAT SUBJECT TEST scores are in the decisions process? I know that the UCs only recommend them but i didn’t do particularly well on them. ( 700 spanish 690 math2 and 650 physics) I honestly don’t know why I scored extremely low on the tests, being that I thought i did well on them and that I got much better scores when I did practice tests. Maybe it was just a bad testing day, who knows. As for my stats, I have a 4.65 GPA, rank in the top 10% of my senior class, 31 ACT (33 superscored), 4s and 5s on my AP tests (taken 5 exams so far and taking 7 this coming May), and my ECs and essays pretty strong. Already being enrolled at UCLA, do you know if the school or just the UCs in general place much importance on it? I am so scared that the SAT Subject test scores will jeopardize my chances of getting in! Any help is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!! (I also got the Alumni Scholarship email?
@10s4life oooooh please describe the admitted student package!!!
my status is “application under review.” just sitting here waiting for march 18th
@gigi888 If you are an engineering major then subject tests are very important. In fact they are almost essential to getting admitted. If you applied anywhere else then no it won’t make or break your application.
@nduclaunc It’s really quite well done. Feels just like a private school admit Pack and worlds better than the other UCs including Cal. It includes a poster to take a picture with, a thick welcome to UCLA book, a checklist of what to expect over the coming months, a folder to hold it all in, and a few more misc paper items. All this wrapped up in an envelope just for you.
@10s4life that does sound quite awesome. Thanks for describing, I could almost picture it :x here’s to hoping I get to see it… in person!!
@10s4life my major is applied math so hopefully they aren’t as important?
@gigi888 Then the math and physics one will still be of pretty high importance.
