The UC system only uses your sophomore and junior year classes, so your freshman grades won’t factor into your GPA
@cj02523 But in the UC application you write all your 9th, 10th and 11th grades
@helloucla844: You report your 9th grades so the UC’s know that you have passed your a-g course requirements, but they are not used in the GPA calculation. You still need to fulfill all the a-g course requirements.
Oh no I know, they just asked about their freshman GPA.
I have a question about the A-G courses. I’m OOS and made sure to take 2 art classes from the same sequence this year, a sequence of TV Production 1 in my first semester, and TV Production 2 in my second semester.
Just how important are the visual and performing art classes (F Courses)? If someone was more than qualified for a UC, but didn’t complete the F course requirement in high school, would they be automatically rejected?
@vasodys What is the source of your statement “Decisions will be posted on March 17th at 5pm”? Is that based on last year? Because last year UC Berkeley postedresults one week after UCLA and this year UC Berkeley’s results are posting on March 31.

@maxr100: This is a response from UCLA given to an OOS applicant last year regarding the F courses:
While the University of California have a set pattern of academic courses that are required for admission, we understand that these subject requirements may be difficult for some applicants to meet due to differences in school curriculum.
All applications for admission are reviewed within the context of courses available to them; if a particular required subject is not available, we will consider the application without it. We would not deny an applicant due to any one single criteria, therefore if the applicant is otherwise a strong competitive applicant but they are missing the VPA course (1 semester or the entire year) we can still admit that student.
There is no single academic path that we expect all students to follow, but the strongest applicants take the most rigorous high school curriculum available to them.
Sincerely,
UCLA Undergraduate Admission
ASUAR
Haven’t seen any official posting of UCLA decision date either. Heard the 3/17 rumor. Berkeley portal shows that we’ll have decisions by 3/30. UCD and UCSD decisions unofficially reported to be coming out today if that means anything for us to better guess UCLA timing.
@Banker1 I believe last year’s UCLA results came out a week after the UCSD results which would line up with this year’s rumored date
I think the word “by” is key. UCLA has come out the 3rd Friday for the past 3 yrs from what I have read on cc. If Davis & UCSD come out as expected today, UCLA will be the 17th and Berkeley the 24th (which is ‘by’ the 30th). ;
My UC Berkeley portal says “Decisions will be available on March 30, 2017.”
Well that is different but I wonder if that is their standard portal date. Looking through old threads might help. I will be surprised if they wait that long, but anything is possible.

Ucla decisions will be released on the 17th. I talked with a UC Santa Barbara admissions counselor in person who had the entire decision release schedule and confirmed it was the 17th for ucla
Confirmed for the 17th. A guy who lives on my floor works in undergrad admissions and that’s the date they were told as well
UC Davis decisions have been posted, for anyone interested.
it’s so funny how the ucsd thread has more people posting their acceptances to ucd than the actual ucd thread
