@10s4life my son didn’t get the likely letter, but let’s say he nonetheless is admitted (CS) on the 17th. Will he be invited to the event on April 6?
D is 5 for 5 for engineering but now it gets interesting with GTECH, UCLA, Berkeley and U Mich on tap. Decisions, decisions.
Even if you got the likely letter for engineering, is there any chance you can get rejected?
I have the same question. I’m scared to tell people I got a likely letter because it’ll be pretty sad if I don’t get in. Is there a possibility of rejection after receiving a likely letter from UCLA for engineering?
@coffee1999 @voltthorn of course there’s a chance of rejection. Those emails are called likely because they are just that. Nothing is confirmed until the 17th.
@vasodys why would they send out that email then? Got me so excited!!
Also, do they only send these out to the top applicants?
@voltthorn I would guess that they do only send those out to top applicants. I’m not saying there’s a big chance of rejection, just that there is one.
@vasodys makes sense! Really wasn’t expecting it at all. I was telling my parents how badly I wanted to get in and then the email showed up!!
@voltthorn I didn’t get it and at first I assumed it’s because I’m international, but then I saw someone else got it I have no way of knowing my chances
@vasodys I’m an American citizen but don’t live in the states.
@voltthorn oh lol it was you. Maybe that’s why I didn’t get it, or I’m not a top applicant :)) I hope I get in though. UCLA was amazing last year when I visited
@vasodys ahahaha nah I just checked, it was someone else! I’m quite surprised though, because I dont think I’m a top applicant. ACT 33 UC GPA 4.35
I really hope it works out this Friday. I’d hate to get rejected after receiving a likely letter.
@voltthorn I can’t compare because I can’t calculate a GPA with my school grades but my SAT is 1500 so it’s comparable to a 33 ACT. Hopefully we both get accepted
International applicant here and I received the engineering “likely” email. Just throwing it out there for the other international students to know. Hopefully it is a definitive yes! Good luck to y’all.
Is the likely letter that email where they commend your accomplishments and invite you to the engineering event Sunday April 9th? If so I got it
@vasodys I would disagree. It makes no sense for UCLA to send out invites to the Open House to certain students, only to then reject them. I would surmise that it IS a definite acceptance aimed at appealing to the best applicants in order to urge them to consider UCLA over other colleges like Berkeley or the Ivies. Of course, this is all speculation. We’ll only know for sure on the 17th!
@messiisgod123 We shall see on the 17th
@messiigod123 @vasodys I would have to agree. It makes no sense for them to reject you after sending you that email. I think when they say “Please note that admission decisions have not been finalized” they mean that admission decisions for all the applicants have not been decided yet and therefore official decisions have not been published yet.
Also, does receiving a likely letter mean that I have a good shot at Berkeley?
@voltthorn I think if you’re considered a top applicant for UCLA then your chances of getting into Berkeley are high too
