UCLA CLASS OF 2021 APPLICANT THREAD

@kajah0602
In the College of Letters & Science, majors aren’t considered for acceptance!

From the UCLA website:
Q: IF I AM NOT ADMITTED UNDER MY FIRST CHOICE MAJOR, WILL UCLA REVIEW ME FOR MY ALTERNATE MAJOR?

A: Within the College of Letters and Science, the major an applicant chooses is not a factor in the review process at the freshman level. UCLA does not normally consider the alternate choices of applicants who applied to majors in the other schools (Engineering, Arts, etc.).

around when will we know the decision?

March 17. But what time exactly will it be available?

@nduclaunc I heard 5 pm

Does anyone know if my application could get negatively impacted if I actually never submitted the Questionnaire responses?? I did not do them as they specified that they were optional. However, I am really concerned on whether I should have actually done them… By the way, did everyone get this request or was it certain applicants? How does this work?

@@once17 You got what’s called a supplemental and it means you were borderline and they wanted more info. So yes you are severely disadvantaged now.

So does this mean that I should lose complete hope on the school or just that my possibilities to get in are now even shorter?

@once17 which ‘questionnaire’ was this? Was it the supplemental that was sent out to some of the borderline applicants a few weeks ago or the simple questionnaire about the UC application process a few months ago (just clarifying so you are not freaking out unnecessarily)

It was the supplemental Questionnaire. I did not do it because it said that it was optional and would be to cover only topics not discussed on the personal statements. I didn’t wanted to sound repetitive and simply talk about things that I had already discussed in my application. However, I had no idea that this meant borderline. If that would have been the case, I would have definitely done them.

@once17 I hope it does work out for you anyway.

Received the Engineering likely letter. Also Regents and Alumni Scholarship invites. Excited to go for the Engineering open house on April 9, but the web link says Bruin Day is the day before. UCLA website says it’s April 15. Are they different weekends? Will we get to see housing and campus tours?

@northwest22 Checj the website or call for dates. Bruin Day has campus and housing tours. Engineering does not have housing tours. If you are oos you are also eligible to participate in Bruin Overnight Stay where you stay in a current students dorm the day before bruin day and get to hang with them before Saturday.

@10s4life who gets chosen for the overnight stay?

has anyone not not under the engineering blanket or regents invites gotten an invitation to bruin day?

Good Luck to all

@zoeeeeeee101 TBH it’s either all oos students or thosenwith high stats. Prob the latter. It’s all for the yield programs.

@daisieswhatever If you are not engineering, or regents you will not get early notification. An invite to Bruin Day will come with acceptance on the 17th.

@10s4life thanks man. But why are you awake

@Chrisfults123 I’m wondering the same thing! I received the invite and my GC said it was a good thing, and told me that I definitely should apply as it shows my interest. However, I know a very qualified applicant (who is also a UCLA legacy) who didn’t receive the email, along with a far-less qualified applicant who DID. Very confused!!

Also - what does it mean if I never got a supplemental request, never got asked for teacher recs, was invited to apply for alumni scholarship but not Regents? I am OOS with 3.90 UW GPA (my school doesn’t weight but all my classes were honors or AP) and 34 ACT with what I think are good ECs and essays. when do we find out? i’ve heard so many different dates and am so nervous!
