UCLA CLASS OF 2021 APPLICANT THREAD

@kirsten4624 It’s going to be on the 17th at 5pm as far as we know :slight_smile:

@vasodys Thank you! But how did you find out? :slight_smile:

@vasodys Thank you! But how did you find out? :slight_smile:

@kirsten4624 It was confirmed on the UCLA admissions twitter, and another applicant also confirmed it after they asked an admissions officer a couple weeks ago. This date also coincides with previous years’ trends.

@coffee1999 Most do but some take an extra quarter or two. The school of engineering has taken steps to modify the curriculum to help students get out on time

.

@SillyJillie423 Oh yeah!! Good luck! Haha same scores and same major…I hope we both get it:)

I’m applying from Oklahoma, wish me luck! If I’m lucky enough to get into UCLA this year I am 100% sure I will be attending! Good luck to all the CA residents and the wishful OOS students like myself!

@kidfromoklahoma5 Good luck!

What do you guys think my chances are (majoring in poli sci)?
ACT 33, 3.98/4.25 gpa (UC gpa is like 4.2-something lmao), in-state? All of my extracurriculars are about politics/journalism/art (editor-in-chief of the yearbook, photo/business editor of the school newspaper, member of harvard model congress, volunteer on the campaign trail of a congressional candidate who is now a congressman, etc etc.) I don’t volunteer that much rip but I put all of my effort into my passions/extracurrics I just don’t know if it will show through my app lmao. Any responses would help thank u !

@thenewstyped Is your 4.25 gpa the uncapped weighted gpa from UC approved courses taken in grades 10-11? If so, then you have an ok chance at getting in with your other extracurriculars. How many AP/honors did you take? 4.25 uncapped weighted is good, but its also a bit below average for the admitted applicants uncapped gpa (I looked at the freshman profile from last year on the UCLA website and a 4.25 gpa is below the 25th percentile - https://www.admission.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_fr/Frosh_Prof16.htm).

Not sure if this was answered already but are decisions coming out this Friday, March 17? And if so, what time?

@kabobgirl yes, March 17th
I recommend checking AFTER 6. If you check at the same time everyone else checks (at 5), the server goes down and people just get frustrated and slow it down even more.

@MiniGrace11 thank you! Yes, of course. I’m so excited!!

So if we applied for engineering and we didn’t get that recent email inviting us, it’s safe to assume we didn’t get accepted?

@bluespirit not a safe assumption. From what ive read that email goes to top 25% of accepted so that still leaves around 75% of accepted + waitlisted students that did not get it

I know this probably means nothing, but did anyone else’s major disappear on their portal? It was right under where our name and address are and it’s gone for me, anyone else?

I see name, address, email address and then application status. No major listed and don’t recall ever seeing it there.

@need2go2UCLA I keep messing up when calculating my UC gpa lmao especially b/c a lot of classes on my transcript counted as classes even though they were not real class periods (like when I was a newspaper/yearbook staffer), so they lower my GPA/idk how it’s going to play a role in my UC gpa. For my school gpa, I have a 3.98/4.25 GPA, and I took 4 AP’s & 1 honors course junior year.

@Banker1 I remember seeing it there from numerous times of checking my portal. I doubt it means anything
