UCLA CLASS OF 2021 APPLICANT THREAD

@tem339 I think it’s ok, because while it totally feels like they cross-reference, i remember hearing about a lawsuit regarding that same matter among the Ivies, so the possibility of legal trouble would keep them from collaborating.

As far as it being bad, the only detriment may be that the UCs are vastly different from each other and therefore are looking for different types of candidates. Hope you get in at your number 1!

@InfiniteLibrary Because of yield. Since they are both great schools, UCLA might not want to accept someone who they think will get in and go to Cal and vice versa. If they see that you didn’t apply to Cal, then it would increase the chance that you would end up going to UCLA.

@tem339 Oh right. Thanks!

@daisieswhatever Thanks! You too! I guess at this point there’s no point thinking about it anyways.

@tem339 honestly though. It’s coming so soon but I’m so nervous.
What are you doing to pass the time? In desperate need of some things to get my mind off of decisions (luckily I’ve been admitted to other UCs already)

Decisions have been finalized some time ago. The likely letters are “admission letters”. They are sent to the top admits not applicants. 25% is too high the figure from last year was closer to 10-15.

@daisieswhatever It’s so nerve-wracking I’m looking for any suggestions on how to make it through this process as well! But basically I just try to remember that it’ll all be okay and workout in the end.

@10s4life So those who received likely letters are definitely admitted?

Idk why I even care - I didn’t receive one!

UCSC decisons on Wednesday UCLA & Babson college decisions Friday. Saturday-Tuesday Disneyland with a friend. I really hope Im not gonna be crying during Its a Small World.

@kirsten4624 Well, at least you have something fun to look forward to! I’ll just be sitting at home and weeping.

@InfiniteLibrary Yes it’s for sure. I know it’s hard to believe, every year applicants doubt cause they don’t want to get their hopes up. But this time breathe easy it is for sure. Note likely letters are only for the top 10-15% of engineering admits. Top also includes urm and women since they are trying to increase outreach to those groups.

@jaquabert @coffee1999 That’s great news for you! Congratulations!!

@10s4life I wish I could breathe easy! I didn’t get the letter. Do international students even receive them? Also, how likely is it that my admission be rescinded (if I get in), if I don’t do that well in senior year?

@InfiniteLibrary yes international here… rcvd engg open house invitaton ltr.

@USUG21 Oh ok. Thanks

Can anyone chance me

Also I was rejected at UCSD; didn’t have high hopes there
Admitted to UT Austin, UC Davis and U Pittsburgh

@10s4life just curious they don’t admit people just cause they are girls right? They admit you and then find out if you are a girl or urm? And Thanks for letting me know I basically got in!

@coffee1999 Of course you have to be qualified. It’s just once you’re in they will take extra steps to get you to commit.
