My D got the likely letter. She did not submitted her subject tests on UC application. She thought scores were too low. She applied for EE.
If you do get a regents scholarship invitation, do you only get it after you are accepted?
@voltthorn… UCs only send out regents scholarship to those who got accepted.
@voltthorn You get the invite before acceptances come out, after acceptances come out you MAY receive the scholarship
@bellabiology99 are you in state?
Hey guys! I got waitlisted by UCSD, and I was wondering if there is realistically any chance that I’d be accepted to UCLA (It’s my top choice, but I’m trying to accept the reality that I won’t get in.)
UC capped gpa: 4.23 (would be 4.27 but I received one semester of an unfair grade which I explained)
unweighted gpa: 3.86 (would be 3.91)
SAT score: 1410 (740 math, 670 reading and writing)
number of honors/AP’s: 14
Major: psychobiology
EC’s: Student council (class activities coordinator 10th and 11th grade, executive activities coordinator 12th. Planned four dances, including prom, without any adult help)
Community Theatre (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th- HUGE time commitment. At least two shows a year. Did shows with two different theaters. I was able to specifically mention that I was in CATS and Evita)
School Theatre (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th- assistant choreographer in every musical, lead in one, directed two one acts)
Varsity Swimming (11th and 12th- participated in multiple events per meet)
President of the Thespian club (11th- organized a booth and initiated members into the society)
Volunteering: 300+ hours (Peer counseling, giving runners cups of water at a marathon (for three years), was someone in charge of props at a community theatre, was part of a program where local organizations came to us with real world problems and we helped them find solutions.)
Work Experience: 50 hours a week for two months as a day camp counselor (as a city employee, had to be drug tested and fingerprinted) and we were also in charge of special needs kids.
I also was a part of a two week Acting Conservatory at UCLA and a three week Musical Theatre Conservatory at UCLA, which I could’ve earned college credit for if I wanted to write a ton of essays during the camp.
The only reason I might not get rejected from UCLA would be because I did camps there and because UCLA values work experience more than UCSD.
What do you guys think?
@allima no OOS from IL
@tem339 and @ashleyucla2021 I really hope it means something cus if it doesn’t these colleges were playing my life lol
Anyone know if there’s a GroupMe chat for UCLA Class of 2021?
@gooddancinggroup - Don’t worry. It’s not uncommon to get rejected from UCSD and get accepted into UCLA. Each UC is different in their acceptances. Good luck!
I don’t really care if I get in or not at this point. College admissions is so unfair with legacy and affirmative action and all that anyway. I know I’ll do well at any college I attend. Good luck to everyone here!
I never received any Regent/Alumni/Supplemental requests from UCLA. Do I even still have a chance at getting in If i didn’t receive any email invitations?
@need2go2UCLA You might have a better chance than people who received supplemental requests, but not have high enough stats to receive the alumni request? I don’t know your stats but i’m guessing you still have a chance because i’m pretty sure plenty of people who don’t receive any of those requests get in.
I was reading a post on here and it said something about the yield of a school and how they would reject if they thought you would go somewhere else? I applied to all the UC’s, can each UC school see which other ones I applied to?
@gooddancinggroup I think you need to stop losing your mind over college admissions and agree to go the concert thing Friday night with me so you can at least have some fun during your spring break.
@potatopotatoe No, they can’t, don’t worry about it.
Between the three top UCs (LA, B, SD), which has the strongest biological sciences program?
@wormholes according to US News, Berkeley has the best bio program for undergrads, after Harvard, MIT, and Stanford.
@nervous17yearold Thank you! I saw that as well. It’s weird because when talking about bio people don’t really talk about Berkeley much; I feel like Berkeley is more well known for its engineering programs. Maybe that’s just me though.
I posted this on the UCSD thread last week, but I also wanted to post it here as well… I just wanted to say, good luck to everyone! I know this is a really stressful time, and I just wanted to add something positive on here. Don’t stress too much guys! If you get accepted thats great, if not it’s not the end of the world. I know each and every one of you are going to do something great with your lives no matter where you go! <3
