UCLA CLASS OF 2021 APPLICANT THREAD

GPA and SAT scores are irrelevant in TFT. They couldn’t care less. They just make sure that you meet the minimum requirements and beyond that…the supplemental applications and Interview are what the admissions decision is based on. ECs can also play a role but really…admission is based on talent. @boymom16

@kmde307 not really your school but maybe region around you because what you said is true, you can’t compare a poor area to a rich area. But that is technically something they consider when making decisions because poorer areas with worse educational levels would get no love for top schools.

@Helium9 Yup. I might set up an alarm at 3 a.m (5pm PST) to check the portal. Did the same for Davis and San Diego.

@boymom16 I would imagine that if TFT required a portfolio (not a film student & for some reason the admissions internal server isn’t working on the TFT website, so sorry I don’t know how that application goes), that would be more important than GPA. :slight_smile:

@vasodys I wasn’t actually aware about Davis and SD, so I slept normally until I woke up in the morning. Then I saw a friend’s message about getting accepted at Davis.

@Helium9 I found out that same day so I just did it

Is it uncommon for someone to get rejected at UCSD and get accepted to LA ? I got rejected from UCSD I’ve always wanted to go to LA I hope it’s not a long shot /:

Surely doesn’t raise your chances especially since it was a flat out rejection but there is always a chance since each college has their own way of making decisions. Just believe and hope for the best. @kmde307

@daisieswhatever
even UCSD came out at 3? I always thought it was 5 so I checked Davis at 3 and SD at 5 lol
does UCLA usually come out at 3 or 5?

@kmde307 LA is definitely harder to get into than UCSD so I understand your concern. However, the college acceptance process is sometimes a little random. One of my friends got rejected by all the UC’s, except for Berkeley and LA, the top two UC’s. I’ve heard countless stories like that from students with excellent stats so by no means would I assume that you won’t get into LA just because you got rejected at SD. Good luck.

UCSD came out at 5, not true. The UCLA admissions account did see “evening,” so I would assume 5 PM PST, but it’s hard to say for sure. Hopefully we can call tomorrow and they’ll give us some insight.

Is it a good sign if you got the supplemental questionnaire? I’m applying as a Bio major with a 4.2 UC GPA and 1400 SAT. I mentioned that I was dealing with health issues that negatively affected my academic performance in my essays.

@LetsGoDodgers No, it means you are the borderline and they need more things to understand you as an individual. It may be something to do with your health issues that affected your academic performance. Make sure that you take the supplemental questionnaire seriously.

Did UCLA send an email about sending letters of recommendation?

Is it still possible to get into engineering if you didn’t get a likely letter, or is everyone who didn’t get a likely letter basically rejected?

@savagenumber1 UCLA does not request letters of rec

@runzwitsiccors Only between 10-15% of the admits to engineering get the letter. That 10-15% includes the very top applicants they want to accept, URM, women, as well as those that are economically disadvantaged. Most engineering admits did not get the letter. I did not and was eventually admitted. Hang in there you have 2 more days.

2 days everyone!

@10s4life what were your stats?
I’ve applied for Bioengineering so I was just wondering…
Thanks :slight_smile:

Im not confident at all about Friday
I got into UCSD but just got rejected from WashU in St. Louis which has roughly the same acceptance rate as UCLA so low key freaking out :confused:
Good luck to everyone on here!

@meddude101 Hey! I also just got rejected from WashU but don’t let that get you down about UCLA. Although UCLA is very competitive, it’s applicant pool is much less competitive than WashU’s. Many people apply to UCLA which really drives the acceptance rate down even though it’s not as difficult to get into. Still scary, and i’m really really nervous too. Good luck!
