UCLA Class of 2022 - Applicant Thread

Ugh my parents convinced me that it was too hard to get into Berkeley so that was the one UC I didn’t apply to. But now I totally regret it because I’m realizing my stats are super close to their freshman :frowning:

I probably had a better chance at Berkeley than UCLA…why am I like this :expressionless:

Since UCLA was delayed with regents do u think they’ll be delayed for regular?

@ucplsacceptme What were your stats? The reality should be that if your stats are at par with Cal freshmen, you’d be at the same caliber with UCLA freshmen too. Their decisions may be slightly more GPA-based, but Cal doesn’t shy from accepting high-performing students with great grades and test scores.

Class of 2021 freshman here. I applied to UCLA last year in the College of Engineering and was waitlisted, but ultimately got in (was notified very late - the first week of June). I ultimately decided not to attend and accepted admission at Stanford instead. I attended a competitive California high school and this is what I found about those of us that applied, were accepted, waitlisted and denied: Every single person that was accepted outright to UCLA last year from my high school had all A’s (except one student) and near perfect SAT, SAT II or ACT scores. Many of them were waitlisted to most of their other schools, with one student waitlisted to every one of his other top choices. That told me volumes. The two of us who were waitlisted to UCLA had mostly A’s and some B’s and had good, solid SAT, SAT II or ACT scores (I got a 34 on the ACT and the other student that was waitlisted got a 33). The rest of the students were denied. Out of all the schools I applied to, UCLA put the most emphasis on pure grades and test scores, but that was specific to my high school. I personally did not like how they let the process drag on and on and on if you were waitlisted, but I’m sure it is not an easy process for the administrators either. Just a perspective on how it worked when compared to students in your own high school. Good luck all!

Why does the UCLA portal say they plan to release decisions in LATE march?

I am an OOS student. My scores are very low- and between sophomore and junior year, I only have 4 APs (3 senior year) and the rest are honors classes at school (Butttt they do not count towards UC GPA :frowning: ) I applied for global studies. Do they select based on major? I have good Ecs and essays… I did not receive a supplemental question. Does that mean my chances are little to none?

UCLA just posted on their twitter that they are releasing decisions tomorrow after 5 PST!

I can confirm the timeline, best of luck to all the applicants.

@collegefind1234 but you are looking at the top 75% of admits, not applicants. I think if you are in the top 75% of applicants you stand a very good chance of getting accepted

what was the exact twitter account?

@10s4life thank you so much for your responses, help, and feedback. It really helped to put my anxiety at ease during this whole process!!!

@ucplsacceptme don’t lose faith! There are a handful of students every year who get admitted into UCLA with stats below the norm. While Berkeley does tend to admit more students based off of what they’ve done rather than being defined by a test score, UCLA still does that - just not as many as Berkeley

UCLAAdmission: Hi there! We anticipate releasing admission decisions tomorrow, March 16 after 5:00PM Pacific Time.

I just checked both of their twitter accounts and can’t find the tweet. Did they take it down?

I think the tweet is gone now… did they delete it so the portal isn’t overwhelmed or did they have a change in plans?

for everyone who can’t see the tweet—
go to @UCLAAdmission and look at “tweets and replies”

The tweet is under the replies tab! You have to check there.

Has UCLA declared their Regent scholars?
