UCLA Class of 2022 - Applicant Thread

Just a note on housing:

  1. Starting Fall of 2017 all freshman are placed in triple occupancy rooms.
  2. No freshman is placed in a deluxe room (current students pick first)

Classics are the traditional res halls and most freshman end up there. (Most social)

Plazas are like classics but have shared and private bathrooms. They can be condominium style or high rises (medium socialness)

Suites are like apartments with no kitchens. (Least social)

Only plazas and deluxes have AC. But tbh AC isn’t really needed most of the year except the first 3 and last 3 weeks of the year.

@10s4lifeThanks!!

@farmboy32 Thanks. It makes a lot of sense that they would try to protect their yield. Six of Ds friends with great GPAs and scores were also waitlisted. They think it’s a conspiracy against NorCal

@farmboy32 Oh and congrats on Stanford!!

Anyone know when we’re supposed to hear about interviews for the alumni scholarship?

Curious about that too @college2022c

@10s4life … is it true that there may be other scholarships that admitted freshmen may apply for once they submit SIR to attend UCLA? thanks for your help

@10s4life …is there any benefit to attending freshman orientation earlier than later in the summer? Thanks!

I got waitlisted :frowning: How likely is it to get off the waitlist? UCLA is literally my dream school.

@242466 orientation sessions are ‘fair’ in that slots for high-demand classes are allocated to a certain number of spots saved for each orientation section, so that those classes aren’t full by the time later students have orientation. I think 10s4 will say this too.

@socalman Yes during the school year there are scholarships to apply for. They are small dollar scholarships and since you apply in the fall don’t plan on depending on them for payments

@242466 There is no advantage. At each section a certain amount of spots per class are open. For instance if a class has 100 spots and there are 10 sessions each session has 10 spots. In your orientation groups you’ll all draw straws on who gets to pick classes first.

does anyone know when we will receive a packet in the mail if we were accepted?

@donutfriend123 In previous posts, most people in the past seem to have gotten it around 4/1

WHOOOPP WHOOOPPP I GOT IN!!! so blessed and congrats to those who got in too!! my major is premed psychobiology

I am having trouble viewing my financial aid because it says I have no MyUCLA access? I have my 9 digit ID but I don’t know where to put it in.
