UCLA Class of 2022 - Applicant Thread

@yinhan aww man that sucks :frowning: and 5%?!? Damnnn that’s like Stanford lol. Thank you for taking the time to respond! I hope you get into a college (if you haven’t already) that you love and I’m wishing the best in the art world for both of us

@Greyvenn Don’t be! you have excellent credentials. It’s just CS at Ucla has a single digit admit rate so it is super competitive. It has nothing to do with the capabilities you have as a student. Best of luck with your other decisions. I’m sure you’ll get into a stellar college.

Accepted
Ecology, Behavior, Evolution
OOS(Got half FA)
1520SAT 760Bio E 780Math II
97.74/100 weighted GPA

I think my UC App is better than the common app one(love UC Prompts!!)

So excited!!! EBE has everything I’m looking for in college all the research opportunities and pre vet trackXD

Congrats to all the prospective class of 2022 admits! You have a lot to be proud of. Now that you are weighing your acceptances I encourage you all to attend Bruin Day 2018. What is Bruin Day? Bruin Day is UCLA’s premier admitted student event. Each year thousands of admits and their families come to beautiful Westwood, California to see what life is like as a Bruin. The day after Bruin Day is when professional schools such as Nursing, Engineering, and TFT have their own admit days. I definitely think its worth it to attend both Bruin Day and the professional admit day (if applicable) if you can. I flew down to bruin day even after I SIR’d and felt it was completely worth it. Book your hotels quickly! As the fill up extremely fast.

Here are just some of the events we have:

  1. Speech from our very own chancellor Gene Block!
  2. Complete campus tours
  3. Housing tours of our award wining student housing community “The Hill”
  4. Engineering tours for engineering admits
  5. Have a chance to eat at the number 1 ranked dining halls in the country
  6. See our over 1,000 student organizations
  7. Meet with financial aid counselors
  8. Sit in on special lectures from our faculty
  9. Explore your dept and major in academic info sessions
  10. Meet your future classmates!

Here are some useful links:

Is UCLA regents out?

@anotherdooropens I think it’s 16000/113000 which is 14.15% since UCLA accepted around 16000 people!

Is it true that not many in-state students get off the waitlist?

@locksley It’s yield protection–schools like UCSD know that your D is overqualified and likely will attend a more prestigious school over UCSD, and because they are trying to increase their yield rate, they keep her out. It happens to many other people; in fact, I was an REA Stanford admit, was accepted at UCLA, but was rejected (!) by UCSD yesterday!

@itit218 My GPA and ACT aren’t THAT extraordinary, so I think it was mostly because I described my future plans for my career and how I prepared myself for the demands of nursing school. But honestly, I still don’t really know how I got in.

@Laketahoe79 Regents is out. You would know on your portal if you got it

Accepted! OOS
Pre Business Economics
89.5/100 Weighted GPA
32 ACT (first sitting)
Okay ECs- Girl Scout Gold Award, Officer positions in a couple of clubs, Piano, Community Service
Essays- very bad… I started the entire application at 10PM the night it was due.

I know this is going to make a lot of people mad, because I really do not have the stats for UCLA. I never expected to get in, lol. I still don’t know what got me in- I opened the portal expecting a fat rejection. I think my stats+the fact that I am paying full OOS tuition is what got me in… Sorry for those of you that didn’t make it and Congrats to those who did!

@shrimp123 Don’t worry about making people mad. Be proud of your accomplishments and the unique aspects in your application that got you into UCLA. Congrats!
