UCLA communications rejects

Are any of you planning to go to UCSD or berkeley. My concern is that SD is communication, not communications, and does not focus on journalism, pr, or advertising. As far as berkeley goes i don't know how a media studies degree will look on a job application, since it seems to be the only school with the major. Any ideas, info, or feelings would be much appreciated.

did you get rejected? what’s your stats?

I did, 3.8 and all prereqs.

Me too-3.88, all pre reqs.
I really don’t know what else I could have done, except finish TAP.

^Same here, and they say tag makes no difference on impacted majors, so i really don’t know what we could have done. It really sucks.

Condolences to you too ^
It makes me so mad. I wonder what reason they will give me when I call to find out why I was rejected. Because I got 2 B’s my first semester back at CC-in Geology and Computer Science? This is just unbelievable.

^To you as well!
It really is unbelievable. What other schools did you apply to/get into?

Kings…Thats the bad news…Because I am a non-trad student (adult learner/mom) my college choices are narrow-we own a home in So Cal, and we can’t really leave the LA area right now…I applied at UCLA and CSUN, and told myself that if I didn’t get into UCLA, I would be OK going to CSUN. But you know what…I’m not OK with it, not at all. Not after busting my butt for the past 2.5 years…I could have skipped the pre reqs, got C’s and spent more time with my kid instead of studying so much… for what? Sorry for my rant, just really bitter right now!

I didn’t apply to USC because of $-but I wish I had. So, I have some tough decisions to make. As for you, I think if you get into Cal, go for it-I don’t think Media Studies would be a deterrent to a prospective employer. It will look great on your resume that you graduated form Berkeley. I don’t know much about UCSD. Good luck to you!

pinkdiamondgrl - with all the financial aid and scholarships that USC offers, it sometimes is cheaper than most uc’s. My friend pays about 4k per semester for USC.

reject to communication studies as well… but accepted with my alternative major in anthropology.
gpa. 3.88
pre-reqs: 7/7 finished. 6 with As and 1 with a B.

I know how you feel, I had my self convinced I would be happy without ucla as well but it is very disappointing to work so hard for many years and feel like it is for nothing. Hopefully csun will be a little less rigorous than ucla and you will get to spend more time with your kids. I wish you the best of luck in your future!
