UCLA CS Acceptance Indication of Chances at Reach Schools?

Hey everybody!
I’m happy to announce that I was accepted to UCLA’s school of engineering for Computer Science. It’s definitely my top choice thus far! I had previously received an alumni scholarship invite and a likely letter for the engineering open house. I realize that UCLA is ultra competitive, and I read somewhere online that the acceptance rate for CS is pretty low (approx. 8.3% if the source I read was correct). I imagine this rate is lower for an out of state, Indian male such as myself. I was just wondering whether being among the top admits to UCLA’s CS program could be an indication of some of my upcoming schools’ results. I would love to attend UCLA, however, as an OOS student, financial aid could potentially be a problem.

So far, I have gotten into UVA as an Echols scholar (instate), GA Tech (out of state), and now UCLA (out of state). I have been rejected thus far by MIT, and recently I was also waitlisted at UChicago. I am currently waiting on the ivies (minus Dartmouth), Stanford, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, and Duke. I plan on majoring in CS at each school I applied to. Obviously, most of these schools are ultra reaches and incredibly unpredictable, however, any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Seems like you have as good a shot as any. Good luck!

Thanks! I hope you’re right

Bump

Did you apply to CS directly to all these schools? It’s not necessarily harder for OOS to get into UC tho. It may be the other way around so hard to say. Stanford seems super reach if you can’t get into UChi directly but you never know on some of these. Just sit back only 10 days.

Thanks for thanks for the comment. You’re probably right, I think I read somewhere OOS has a higher acceptance rate. Also, I seem to have forgotten that the UC schools don’t practice affirmative action. Also, Stanford is probably the least likely school for me to get into since a bunch of people applied from my school this year and someone already got in REA. Anyways, the likely letter and scholarship invite can’t be negative signs lol so I guess I’ll hope for the best.
