I'm thinking about taking CS33, Stats 110A, EE2, and 1 GE course. Is that too much for my first quarter at UCLA(as a junior transfer).

Is Stats 110A required for CSE major? Tks

I believe it is required.

Yes.

Drop the GE course. That's my opinion.

im sorry if this question has already been asked.
what english should i take for a chemical engineer? i passed AP Lang and AP Lit with a 4-which means i satisfy the Writing I requirement (so i dont have to take eng comp 3?) I looked at the planned schedule for chemical engineers and cant find the Writing II class.
would should i be taking?

You take nothing. You only had to take Eng Comp 3.

Wait I think you do have to take ONE Writing II class (any class that has W attached to it).

zero 786 is right. You will need to complete 1 Writing II course. According to the ChE curriculum, it should be listed as one of the "GE courses".

Notice that you have 6 "GE courses" printed on the curriculum. 5 are required from the categories, and the remaining reserved for Writing II.

I don't remember where Engineering 183 was placed, but that is another psuedo-writing course.

Never mind, then... I wasn't aware that the new HSSEAS GE system had a new Writing requirement as well.

Hmm... I was looking at CS 31 for this fall (since im an EE), and it looks pretty dang full with smallberg...
http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/schedule/detselect.aspx?termsel=07F&subareasel=COM+SCI&idxcrs=0031++++
However I also noticed that the 2nd lecture only has 75 for discussion... but the class is 110? Is the class really 75? If so, I think I am dead... I am gonna be stuck with Rohr (orientation session 103).

PS - flopsy, I think I am in love with that face you add to all ure comments :D

I don't know where ethics ENGR 183 course is placed in the curriculum listing. If you ask a counselor they will say it satisfies the Ethics GE requirement.

Engineering ethics is in the general course section of the announcement. That section can be found near the end of the book.

The size of CS 31 classes is usually 75. I think that "110" was a glitch in the system or something.

will they be opening up anymore cs 31 classes besides whats open now? like zero said smallbergs already full and with my orientation session 104 being a while away, it seems like itll all be full by then

Probably... Prof. Nachenberg might teach CS 31 again this fall.

in the college of letters and sciences, you can get priority with class sign-up by being in honors.
is there anything like that in the engineering school? how does one go about getting priority?

There is no priority enrollment specifically for HSSEAS students. You have to have Regent's or something.

Man I really hope someone else will teach CS 31... otherwise I as well as all the other freshmen who get in the class are stuck with Rohr. Orientation 101 started today, and Smallberg is 148/150... WHY are there so many upperclassmen taking this class!!! lol

Its because of people like me, who try to put off classes they hate as long as possible. Dont worry though, I'll be here in the winter (or maybe next winter)

Hi All,
I am planning to buy a notebook PC in couple weeks. What would be the suggested PC configuations for a engineering student (freshman)?
