UCLA Fall '20 Transfer Waitlist Thread

.

@Iloveucla244 I think it would be better if you request a P instead of a C, especially if you’re planning on attending graduate school afterwards. Admissions have been very understanding for this year entering undergraduate class nationwide because of the pandemic. Just retake the course at a UC. I am sure you will do even better the second time around and even increase (or maintain) your overall GPA.

Yes, freshmen started hearing back before May 1st. What we need to understand is that OOS and international students almost always hear back first, and in waves. They have never spoken about this but it just happens. If you look back at past waitlisted freshmen and transfer threads, OOS and int’l students always get in first so it is safe to assume that once again those transfers will hear back first. However, I personally have been waiting on SIRing to UCSD just in case I hear back from them before the June because I am broke and unemployed currently so I would be very mad if I SIRed to UCSD, paid the fee, and heard back from UCLA before June 1st.

So, just so you all know: OOS and int’l students usually always hear back first and they do so before June.

Good luck everyone. This has been the longest, most painful semester ever.

Thank you for providing this information! I really appreciate it! Can you also send me the link to where you found it?

Yes, I totally agree, I don’t want to make a deposit yet either, I just wish UCLA would speed up the process so we don’t waste money.

I wonder how many people are waitlisted for each major? However, when I called the admissions they said they don’t have the numbers yet.

Admissions told me that because of COVID they will start immediately reviewing the waitlist after June 1st, so we may be hearing back sooner than expected.

Do you mean they will start immediately viewing them after the May 15th deadline to opt in? Because I believe they usually always start viewing them right away after June 1st.

Also, thank you to everyone who has been calling and providing us with information!

Soooo what do you guys think–with the whole stay-at-home order extensions and schools putting their fall semesters online–UCLA means when they say we will be hybrid/have “some” classes online? I was thinking perhaps labs or other things that would be hard to do online. As transfers, since you can’t defer if it’s your first quarter, if you are accepted will you go through with it? I just really want to get out of my town lol so I am concerned

Hey I would gladly provide the source but I did pay for this resource and do not want to expose myself to the company for giving paid information.

Okay that’s ok then. I am just thankful that you shared that with me. I was wondering if you have the info for specific majors by any chance? Also do you know if they under admitted in the beginning to take more people off of the waitlist in 2019?

They did not have the statistics by major and did not specify whether they under admitted. We can only make conclusions based off of the amount of people they admitted in 2019 and then compare that to this years numbers. Sorry I do not have an exact answer for what you are asking form this is the best I have. I think if we knew the statistics by major we’d feel more relieved.

@Iloveucla244 @sebptastic It’s also important to keep in mind that just because there were a lot of people accepted from one major last year doesn’t mean that there will be this year. It’s all dependent on students that were admitted deciding not to attend the college. As a result, it is likely that more waitlist students will be admitted this year because of the virus.

Wait, so does that mean the transfer class size for 2019 was 3,842? 3,383+ 459.
Or am I interpreting that wrong? I thought the class size is supposed to be around 3,500.

Does the orange “submit” button show on the decision page for anyone else after submitting the form? I’ve received a confirmation email, but I’m still a little paranoid about it not going through.

Yeah the submit button stays there

The submit button stays there because you can edit your information you input until May 15 at 11:59 pm. It should be fine since you’re getting confirmation emails!

what should I write on the ‘additional information’ section?
Should I write like an appeal letter?

what is LOCI? and can we just put “IP” in spring grade section?

Do we have to write both fall and spring courses?
