@uclahopeful4 i can’t imagine they are stressing over any type of W in yoga.
Hello first of all I hope you are doing well!
Second, I was wondering if any of you have any tips for the LOCI? I really want to have a good chance. Any tips to STAND out?
Does anyone have any good examples of LOCI’s?
@Ohm888 Question: do you think putting my class grade (percentages) onto my LOCI to show I have good grades for the semester would be impactful?
I’m not sure about exact percentages but maybe the letter grade would be useful.
I don’t know what LOCI means ? but letter grade is always better whatever it is.
@ste1111 @uclahopeful4 I emailed UCLA admissions and they literally told me, “Fall 2020 applicants/admitted students who opt to take a course or courses in winter, spring and/or summer 2020 for Pass or No Pass (P/NP) instead of a letter grade will not be penalized in the admission process. We will accept “pass” grades for any course or requirement (major prep, IGETC, GE, etc.) for admission purposes.”
@Ohm888 can we put the letter grades we have in our spring quarter classes that are in progress in addition to “IP”? I’m about halfway done with the quarter.
^^^ I read that as well although it may not suffice for the major course requirement. In other words, it gets you in (no penalty admissions-wise) but possibly you’ll need to retake for your major.
Hey can you please share the waitlist admit rate for 2019? Also specific majors if that’s possible?
Also does anyone know how many people are waitlisted for each major?
Also I heard that some freshmen this year got off the waitlist on April 28th which is before the SIR deadline for them. Does that mean that we will be hearing on May 28th before the SIR deadline as well?
Do you guys know if they are looking at both the original application and waitlist letter equally or are they looking at one more?
@Iloveucla244 I believe that they review both your original application and your waitlist submission (I forget where I saw this but it was somewhere on the UCLA site). As for early response to the waitlist, I talked to admissions and they said they can’t promise anything before June 1st so to just use that as the marker. However, last year some students began to hear back around the 25th or so. Fingers crossed some waves get out this month!!
I wish there was a rule that allowed all the waitlist kids to know before the SIR date, because it kills me inside to submit my SIR for another school while deep down I just want to go to UCLA. Its so stressful for everyone for a variety of reasons, but at the same time just remember we didn’t get denied but instead we got waitlisted meaning we STILL have a chance. Keep the positive energy going and always remember no matter what school one attends we will do great either way. Good luck my fellow transfers <3
It all depends but not all of us will hear before the SIR date according to last years thread and info on the website.
I unfortunately received a C in Calculus and Analytical Geometry I this semester. Calculus is a major pre-req for UCLA, as well as UCSB where I tagged. I am debating either doing P/NP, or getting an EW. I have been told by some people to just keep the C since my CC GPA is separate from my UC GPA anyways, and I would have a C at a CC than retake the class and get a B or another C at a UC. What’re your guys’ advice or what’ve you been told by your counselors? Side note: I plan on going to graduate school but not med school.
Theres no major specific waitlist acceptance statistic. I only have the overall waitlist transfer acceptances for 2019. 1984 waitlist offers, 1273 opted in and 459 were admitted.
If this also helps 24,121 applied and 5,335 were admitted. 3,383 enrolled in the fall.

My CC counselor contacted the associative director of admissions evaluations at UCLA. The director told my counselor as well that P/NP will not be hurting students. I asked my counselor to confirm if that mean I would not need to retake Calculus if I get accepted to UCLA and my CC counselor confirmed (that’s also how she interpreted it).
Also does the info online on UCLAs website include accepted students off of the waitlist or is it just people who were initially accepted? I checked and it said that last year 3,283 were accepted. Does this mean around 300 were accepted off of the waitlist or did they just have a smaller class size that year? This year the class size is supposed to be 3,500 + students according to the decision letter so I am very confused.
