yeah I signed in on gmail after I completed the SIR and made the UCLA gmail my official one. Search up MyUCLA and login in and make sure you completed the SIR because if you just said yes on the decision letter then you didn’t submit the SIR you just said you want to go there. You should get an email saying you confirmed your SIR to UCLA
Hey you guys! This is a little bit late but I got accepted from the waitlist on June 3rd! Funny enough, I woke up around 7 AM to check my application status like usual, and the moment I opened up my laptop, I got the email!
Congratulations to everyone else who got admitted and to those who are still patiently waiting, DON’T LOOSE HOPE! This is a completely unpredictable year in terms of yield.
We’re all rooting for you!
@givemethemail I got off the waitlist on June 12th for my alternate major so have hope! I was TAP certified though
If students are not TAP they could not got off for alternative major? I studied at a CC in NorCal and it doesnt have TAP with UCLA…
@givmethemail Only TAP certified students are considered for their alternate major
The wait is so agonizing… lol I can’t focus on anything because I log in to UCLA portal unhealthy amount of times everyday. Please god let us all in given with the circumstance right now. Just hoping for the best for everyone
@newbruinjen Hey I emailed them too! did you hear back from them? Also if the Orientation didn’t open up, It should tomorrow.
I am wondering what does the admit rate and enroll rate actually means on the ucla transfer stats website? Do they count the waitlist as admit rate and enroll rate also?
Make sure if you are trying to sign up for orientation you submitted both the SIR and residency form.
I guess the waitlist admission is almost done : ( I dont hear anyone got in as stats major. I heard a few who got in as Applied math majors though
Hi everyone! I’ve been following this thread for a while and wanted to reach out to you guys so I made an account. I got off the waitlist on June 10th as a poli sci major. I’m in-state and have gone to multiple CCC in LA & OC. My GPA before this spring semester was somewhere around 3.54 and now it’s 3.64 I believe. I finished all my GE’s and the core class requirements as a poli sci transfer (just 4 major classes and a statistics course). I wrote a longer essay on my waitlist about how my grades last fall weren’t indicative of where I’ve come as a student and the personal reason as to why my grades kind of slipped. I got some advice from my counselor and added a good chunk of things I would do at UCLA (what organizations I would join, how I would want to give back, etc.), also my future plans after I graduate. But to be honest, especially from what I’ve read here, I’m not really sure how much my final essay really played a part in me getting off the waitlist. I’ve read here some people didn’t even write a comment on their waitlist so I feel like other factors contribute greater than your essay/comment. My theory is two factors I believe might be the reason I got off the waitlist.
-My counselor told me last year while I was applying to UCs that they REALLY prefer you to finish your math course by the end of fall semester, NOT during spring before you transfer. I’m assuming this is because their math classes are already full with freshman and sophomore so they definitely want to make sure you finish it in case something would have happened before you transferred. But because I was waitlisted, I’m not sure how it applies seeing that the admissions board are able to view now who completed their math courses on the waitlist and who didn’t. Either way, I do think having all your GE’s and core classes completed, especially your math, will really get your foot in the door.
-Second, I can’t verify this from an authorized source but while checking out the UCLA subreddit I read a user stating that they are taking a lot of LOCAL people off the waitlist because they are already anticipating a lot of people withdrawing their acceptances due to covid. A lot of students right now are worried about housing and living on campus so although this theory isn’t backed up, I’d say it’s a safe bet to assume they would prefer to accept students that wouldn’t rely on JUST living in a dorm. Again, they can’t prove this I believe by just looking at your application, but I do live in OC so I figured that was a REALLY big contributor to getting off the waitlist.
All in all, I just wanted to message you guys because I’m truly in disbelief that I’m going to UCLA. I was still holding out hope, but definitely coming to terms with the fact that I was going to UCI after I sir’d on the 1st. I guess my point is-- if I can do it, so can you. Its cheesy but I just wanted to put that out there. I had no ECs on my app or volunteer work. All I wrote down was my work history. I believe my essays were solid, but I was convinced my GPA broke me. I know maybe my info might not be optimistic for some, but if there’s anything positive that can come from this whole pandemic is that we’re truly in unprecedented times. I don’t know if I can confidently say I would’ve gotten accepted if the conditions were different. I don’t want to be too hard on myself, I really am proud of where I have come academically-- but really want to reach out to say UCLA is possible and within reach! It’s still good to be practical and get used to the idea of transferring to a different college. But you never know… I just withdrew my SIR to UCI a couple of days ago so I’m sure there’s other students doing the same with UCLA. That means there can be openings coming up. So, for now, try to relax as much as possible. There’s not much else you can do so try not to stress yourself out about it. I really hope you guys all make it so we can celebrate after this stressful year! GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!! If anyone has a question feel free to ask.
Makes sense
I got accepted off the waitlist june 13th and submitted my sir the same day but it wasn’t letting me do the orientation yet for some reason. I read through the thread and a lot of people were having the same issue. However today it let me complete the pre-orientation and when I went to reserve a spot for the new student orientation it said there was no available transfer orientation sessions. I was wondering if any of you are having the same issue and what I can do about it.
Yup I’m totally getting rejected then
Will there be more waves or its over…
You mean you get reject letter?!
Hi, I would call them- I believe there is a number on the left side when you are doing the pre-orientation. There were about 8 sessions available yesterday when I signed up. It will also be entirely online not in person so I find it difficult to believe they all somehow got filled. Additionally, more people will get off the waitlist this summer so obviously there needs to be space available.
@soc2020 I had the same issue. I literally did the Pre Orientation planner/survey 20 mins ago and when I went to sign up for Orientation, it told me no sessions were available.
I called them today and they told me that they’re all full for the orientations and are planning on making more. we just have to check back daily to see if they added new dates
Anyone got off the waitlist this week?
I haven’t received anything yet and I’m a Business-Econ major there’s no hope for me I just gotta accept I am not getting off
