Hey everyone! I got off the waitlist on June 12 for Engineering Geology. (TAP)
I had nearly lost all hope & was surprised when I checked my email around noon. I had started my UCSB orientation the previous day already, haha. I SIR-ed to UCLA already and submitted my housing form, but it didn’t let me sign up for orientation. Gonna try again today!

Were you accepted around noon or in the morning?
The morning around 6:54 am. I hadn’t checked my email until around noon. I still can’t sign up for orientation, though. 
@newbruinjen Hey!!! Congrats on getting accepted! I was in the same situation as you. I SIR ed UCSB but I got off the waitlist at UCLA so now I am gonna go to UCLA.
I just take here as a place to chat like piazza… I feel lonely and struggled in a condo which will due late August. The waiting game is so depressing. I checked last year thread and found that most math-related majors got notice on July. I have no idea about this year. It is really hard for me that my home is in another country. I am totally lost how could I deal with housing during pandemic…But thank all of you who sent positive messages here. Will I go to emergency housing with homeless ppl?..
@3Collegeuni Thank you! How did you cancel your SIR to UCSB? I sent them an email but I haven’t received a response. Also, were you able to sign up for orientation for UCLA?
based on the past years’ thread tmr may be either rejection or further notice till late June or early August. God bless us…
Hey for the people who got accepted off the waitlist how long did it take for you to be able to sign up for the new student orientation. I got accepted June 13th and It’s not letting me sign up for the orientation still
According to last year’s transfer waitlist thread, students began getting rejected in July but continued being admitted all the way into August. This year is especially unpredictable though.
Let’s hope for the best!

For those who got off: Were you guys able to activate your email acct? They had me create a username and thats supposed to go before @ucla.edu and I did and they said they’d only be sending me emails to that email, ---- @ucla.edu, so I have the account name but they never had be actually activate it using gmail or something where i can log on I pretty much just named it.
Also I apologize for writing this for those of you who are still waiting, UCLA says it will be 10-15 days before they can answer your questions and this is something I want to figure out quickly.
I understand holding waitlist students is another way of their business for school. However, this year is tooooooo tough. I hope final decision could be made earlier.
I could not sleep till 2 am. I just learned that ucla wont consider alternative major last month while I chosestats for first and then Math. I just expect they appreciate my GPA and EC and unusual life experiences…
I completely understand. I’ve had too many breakdowns over this. I know it’s pathetic putting so much energy into a school, but UCLA has been my dream for a long time.
I opted into the waitlist on May 14. Does this mean I’ll know if I got in or not in July or August? Or do they look at waitlisted students by major?
Hope we could get in~My frd turned to an agent for help. They said UCLA admin almost finished admission. I dont know if this is true or just a rumor. I think my issue is I finished my last engl course during spring. I registered for fall2019 but my session was canceled…I could not control this…
I submitted my Sir on the 13th and I still can’t sign up for orientation… gonna call them today
I submitted my sir the day I got accepted (june 13th) but it still won’t let me sign up for new students orientation. I think i’m going to call them today to figure it out
I was having the same issue. You have to complete the sir first and then your ucla email will be made with the logon username you created
I did SIR but I was trying to log in that same day. Just tried it again but it’s still not working. Where did you log in? Was it on a gmail app or?
