UCLA Fall '20 Transfer Waitlist Thread

If you wanted to include your spring grades you could’ve put what you had then added IP to it. That is what some people did seeing as most people weren’t getting their final grades until after May 15th. The UCLA admissions website says that the admissions won’t take any other information besides the things you provide on the additional information section so I wouldn’t annoy them with emails trying to add new information to gain admissions. They won’t look at it or consider it.

I was a few weeks into the quarter at that point…

admin really needs to improve the communication. I guess many of us didnt have a chance to inform the final grades

How long has it been since the last wave? Feels like it’s been a month or at least a few weeks. Not even the freshmen have heard from them in a long time. I mean are the admissions officers on vacation? Lol

Have you reached them out recently? I am going to have another try but I think only a lady works with phone calls

The UC website says that decisions for transfer waitlist will be out by the end of July. So maybe they’re still deciding ~

@brynmagee That’s for UCSD, that’s not a guarantee for UCLA.

The chance here is very small at this time since they have already released abt 9 waves. Based on https://www.ucop.edu/institutional-research-academic-planning/_files/factsheets/2020/fall-2020-admission-table-1-2.pdf They have already admitted 1100 more ppl compared with last year. But good luck everyone~

Could I ask a question? when you applied again did you rewrite your former insight questions or just modify them and add new ECs and courses you have taken?

@givmethemail For LOCI (for the waitlist option) I decided to write something that felt more like “playing with fire.” For example, there was this one person who wrote about “rock, paper, scissors” but went all philosophical. I wanted to do something like that and I explained the purpose of value. I basically completed IGETC and didn’t even updated my grades. Furthermore, my mini essay that I wrote was about the purpose or definition of value and compared it to their mascot (the bear). I wrote a second paragraph describing the opportunities that I could find in their volunteer organization. I stated something like this “I would join your volunteer program for one reason and that is they value serving others in need.” To answer your question, I didn’t not modify my insight questions but rather explain something that felt valuable to me and what would I do if I got accepted to their school.

My stomach just sinks whenever I check my portal every morning because I have lost all hope and I’m just waiting for the rejection. And trust me, I’m a very hopeful person.

I’d feel better if they accepted at least 1 student every week because that’d mean something. The way things are right now, it looks like they’re completely full and are keeping us around in case a couple of students drop throughout the summer. This doesn’t look good.

I’ll show you a part of what I wrote for the LOCI:

“When I was a little girl, I envisioned that UCLA was the right school for me. UCLA has produced and continued to produce the best students in California. It’s inspiring to see that UCLA produces among the best leaders from lawyers to geologists to athletes and so much more. At the age of eleven, I have been taking measures on how to become a Bruin student. Being a Bruin student means more than being part of a family. It stands for courage, strength, and being yourself. This family truly knows the importance of value. Value may be just a simple word that truly means an infinite amount of reasons as to why it is important. However, it signifies much more than that. So, what is the value of fear? It is the motivation or the driving force of our lives; to perform action when caused. Everyone fears even if they say they do not fear anything. Children fear too but it does not affect their performance of getting rid of that fear…”

I got a letter from UCLA, and they said Based on where their deposits sit currently, they do not anticipate more space would be available.~~~
I guess I don`t have a chance to go to UCLA~~
